That's why I'm glad this particular incident got out of Scotland and into the world media, where people without axes to grind can evaluate it more or less objectively. I tend to think the usual excuses for this kind of behavior and the "one's as bad as the other" routine, which are accepted as a matter of course in Scotland, won't play so well to the rest of the world.

This makes me long for the a Flower post on the Tour de France

One of the reasons that the British Empire kicked so much ass was that British people in those days were always coming into large sums of money when obscure relatives would die.
