This Explains a Lot
BERKELEY – Politically conservative agendas may range from supporting the Vietnam War to upholding traditional moral and religious values to opposing welfare. But are there consistent underlying motivations?
Four researchers who culled through 50 years of research literature about the psychology of conservatism report that at the core of political conservatism is the resistance to change and a tolerance for inequality, and that some of the common psychological factors linked to political conservatism include: * Fear and aggression * Dogmatism and intolerance of ambiguity * Uncertainty avoidance * Need for cognitive closure * Terror management "From our perspective, these psychological factors are capable of contributing to the adoption of conservative ideological contents, either independently or in combination," the researchers wrote in an article, "Political Conservatism as Motivated Social Cognition," recently published in the American Psychological Association's Psychological Bulletin. |

Anyone every try to eat a Claim Jumper salad? I'm telling you, it's as big as your desk. Stupid. And they use that cabbage/carrot/filler crap. Leave that stuff out and give me less food. I don't need filler. |

It was an interesting naming strategy. Marketing Texan stuff in Texas is a little difficult, because everyone already has flags and bumper stickers and hats and shirts with the Texas flag on it. So I think the bull comes in so we're forced to buy merchandise in order to show our support. Our don't mess with Texas shirts aren't enough, apparently. |
Question for medical (and not) types

Its bunk - don't think there are any scientific studies that support this theory. That being said, there are theories such as differences in breaking down carbohydrates and efficient insulin use (cited in diabetes, used as basis for Atkins diet etc.), that have scientific support. Cut out those types of foods and body will process more efficiently - but most of the foods cut out are processed breads, pastas, garbage etc. - junk food. Still the age old - eat healthy, reasonable portions (I don't care if you are on the Atkins diet 72 oz steak is not healthy), and exercise. JMHO, |

I'm pretty sure that Enron was a major contributor to a lot of these projects. Ken Lay's name was tactfully removed from all of my inaugural season Texans literature, but he was one of the original parnters in the effort to bring football back to the city. I don't know what happened to the air conditioning part of the 30 year free-air-conditioning-for-naming-rights-to-the-baseball-stadium deal. |
