Also, read "Baby Proof" by Emily Giffin--what a great book, someone who decided not to have kids, her sister has fertility issues, the author went to law school not sure if she practices.

My sister's best friend got married last spring, and of course she was Bridezilla type. My sister got stuck with being the maid of honor. My sister decided that she'd let her friend do whatever the hell she wanted so long as the bride halfed the flowers and doubled the booze of whatever the wedding planner suggested.

Excellent point. On the plus side, you can be sure that there will be Black Bush at the open bar (since I'm apparently a hedge fund manager in real life).

She's actually a friend of mine (or used to be). We worked at the same firm and had a grand old time when I was a summer. She was cool as hell (probably still is) and not too unlike yourself in that she hated her job as a lawyer and left to do something she actually liked doing. That said, I haven't read word one of any of her books. I went to her first book reading and that was enough for me.

If she spent $1,000 in flowers and they didn't come in right, that's fine, get a refund and go home.

But she spent $27,000, a premium price, because she was expecting premium services and top quality product. For rust flowers, the whole wedding - linens, china, food choice, band and groom - was wrong, and they all needed to be replaced last minute.

A lawyer's past action bind the future client? wow! that is tort reform with some teeth right there in Podunk.

I think the multiplier has to do with the ruined day. Consequential damages as it were. It's why "wedding photographer" is about equal to "divorce attorney" in the amount of potential negative feedback you can expect. (which keeps photoshop work up, and Hank in better scotch).

I didn't. I thought it was a great book. And it captured a snapshot of everything.

from Westchester, to Long Island to Manhattan. the I banks and the publishing houses.

It was painful to read--not in the way you described it but that she captured emotion so well.

Not to ruin your embellished story, but I'm pretty sure a company doing any business in the U.S. can't circumvent the do not call list by outsourcing its telemarketing to India.
