OK, FINE, I will admit that I do talk about taxes and stuff to the people I fuck. And if they're really good, I don't insist on attribution.

Nope, you're not hallucinating. There's even a name for them, I think, "coffee crullers"? Or something like that.

Strawberry goop is gross. I'm sure the barrista was just bothered by the break-up of Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen.

Since Penske is in about 42 places, that doesn't offer much precision.

U.S. Forces Fired on Car Carrying Freed Italian Hostage in Iraq
By REUTERS

Filed at 4:03 p.m. ET

BAGHDAD, March 4 (Reuters) - Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena was freed by her captors on Friday but U.S. forces in Iraq mistakenly opened fire on the convoy taking her to safety, wounding her and killing an Italian secret service agent.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said he had immediately summoned the U.S. ambassador, declaring someone had to take responsibility for American soldiers opening fire.

Berlusconi, one of U.S. President George W. Bush's staunchest supporters in Iraq, told a news conference the agent had been shot dead by U.S. forces at a checkpoint and that Sgrena had been wounded in the shoulder.

In Washington, the Pentagon said "multinational forces" had opened fire on a speeding vehicle in Baghdad, causing the death and wounding Sgrena.

"This news which should have been a moment of celebration, has been ruined by this firefight," said Gabriele Polo, editor of Sgrena's Il Manifesto paper, a Rome-based Communist daily.

hehe.

Additional relevant description from CNN:
  • According to a multinational forces statement, the car approached the checkpoint at high speed about 9 p.m. (1 p.m. ET)

U.S. troops "attempted to warn the driver to stop by hand and arm signals, flashing white lights, and firing warning shots in front of the car," the statement said. "When the driver didn't stop, the soldiers shot into the engine block, which stopped the vehicle, killing one and wounding two others."

Of course, had they known they were italian, it would have appeared to be normal driving, and unworthy of concern.

I wonder how involved the Italian forces were in the preparation of that statement. And why was the secret service guy in the engine block? That turns out to have been a dumb place to hide.

They use pretty heavy ammunition at those roadblocks; people get killed and injured just by the shrapnel and other shit that comes out of an engine after you blast twenty rounds of .50 caliber or whatever into it.

If one consults a Freudian dream analysis book this is a pretty standard read as a desire for dual input sex. that shows the limitation of Freudian analysis, and for that matter simply consulting the book.

Using more modern regressive- passive Jungian techniques, I reach a different conclusion. I believe your problem could be simply stated as not getting enough Carbos in your diet.

So if a car with arabs in it comes speeding at a roadblock we can shoot because it's likely a bomber, but if Europeans are speeding towards a roadblock we shouldn't shoot because they likely have an excuse?

i thought you were AGAINST profiling?

Don't get all defensive, it's a lame joke and a picture of Burt Reynolds fer chrissakes.

But, since you mentioned it, why are we still there at the roadblocks? Aren't we done liberating everybody yet? Or are we just there to make sure innocent people aren't being shot because of all the lawlessness and stuff?

I would think that an intelligent guy like you would realize how incredibly stupid the phrase "homicide bomber" sounds. It's even more transparent and pathetic than "freedom fries."

It's stupid shit like this that makes me wonder if the structuralists weren't at least partly right. Because if they were, and if these examples are the best we can do to define the Iraq construct, we're fucked for generations.
