I'm with Bilmore on this - why in the hell would I take a tiny little spot and have to slide out of said vehicle. I'm not so old and lazy to walk an extra 10 feet. As a matter of fact, I try to park as far away as possible - an end spot if available. I'm telling you, people with minivans always throw their doors open and lean their fat ass against the door while they're rummaging through the garbage in their car to find whatever it is their looking for - door dings are NOT my thing.

I agree with one caveat. Racing flats/shoes. I would always break in my flats with 3-5 miles in order to make sure there were no problems, and especially no odd stitching that could cause blisters-this was always a big worry as anything under 26 I went sans socks, which seems to be a theme in my life, since I don't wear socks here either, unless I'm posting more than 26 words, in which case I sometimes wear socks. Except for those periods when I retire from socking. Like the present.

Based on the highlights I saw on Sports Center, there's something not quite right with Funny Cide anymore. I think I could have beaten him over 10 furlongs this weekend, and I'm hardly an elite, balls-in-my-throat runner.

I park in a big parking garage with lots of cars. It is usually full up to the ninth floor or so after about 8:00 am (because it's mostly used by traders and others who work with the markets and get into work at 7:00 am or so). If you park above the ninth floor, your car is exposed to the elements. Given the recent rain in Chicago, I kind of like keeping my car relatively nice looking when it is possible, and I'd rather park inside the structure. Plus, the lower you park, the less time you are driving, in and out. There are several assholes in SUVs who will park poorly and stick out into the next space a little bit. A lof of people won't take these spaces. The assholes have plenty of space to get out on the driver's side; it's the car to their right which is inconvenienced. I would rather park next to them and just carefully slide out of my car than drive for another five minutes and risk getting my car all wet. Any maybe key their shit if they keep doing it, but I have too much restraint to fuck with somebody's car.

I know that you, personally, are all "I just have my big SUV for legitimate SUV purposes," which is cool. I respect that. But I think the other 99,999,999 SUV owners out there are just using them as cars. And, if they don't care about gas mileage (which I'm guessing, if one has an Expedition, one doesn't, either morally or financially) and if one doesn't really like "driving" (which, I'm guessing, if one has an Expedition, instead of a 3-series, A4 of even X5 or Volvo XC, one does not) why not drive it to work? In terms of cruising on the freeway or sitting in traffic, it's just as good if you don't care about gas mileage and want a couch instead of a car. Poor handling, acceleration and steering response? Bah! Don't you see that it's big and that the rappers drive them and that I can fit 57 Ann Taylor bags in it?

Or, the storks could simply share the sidewalk on rainy days, and move slightly to one side instead of insisting on walking exactly in the middle. Otherwise, they deserve to be gouged in the face with umbrellas.
