Is getting a massage illegal? There are thousands of numbers in her "book". Presumably not every arrangement will be used at trial to support the charge of racketeering.
From Vitter's statement:
  • This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible. Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling.

Perhaps not a massage, but a "massage."

In the spirit of bi-partisanship, I imagine that he has probably already paid a high price. At this point, prosecution is probably excessive punishment........

In 2000, Vitter was included in a Newhouse News Service story about the strain of congressional careers on families.

His wife, Wendy, was asked by the Newhouse reporter: If her husband were as unfaithful as Livingston or former President Bill Clinton, would she be as forgiving as Hillary Rodham Clinton?

“I’m a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary,” Wendy Vitter told Newhouse News. “If he does something like that, I’m walking away with one thing, and it’s not alimony, trust me.”

If the DC Madam is being prosecuted, why isn't David Vitter being prosecuted?
Clearly, its because he's a Republican, as all Republicans are above the law, and unlike the patriotic, god-fearing, law-abiding, "salt of the earth" Democrats.

Is it a sin? Do you think that's what Vitter was fessing to?

Drinking whiskey is a sin in the minds of the crowd he runs with.

Making it all the less likely that he would cop to what everyone thinks he copped to if he only got a massage.

I'm sort of confused how the forgiveness from God isn't getting bigger airplay than the being in the rolodex. It's been awhile since God has talked to anyone. You'd hope some intrepid reporter is following up on this remarkable development.

I think he's fine doing that in New Orleans.

As he would be getting a blowjob from a hooker.

Is soliciting prostitution a federal crime?

I don't get this part. What does it matter if the crime is federal or local?

Are you saying this because it's DC? Or as a general principle? If Ty's point is "why isn't this investigation going after everybody connected with this business" one answer is that it's a federal racketeering investigation, not a local vice squad case.

If your point is "why not prosecute the johns", well, DC hasn't done much of that at all, so why should it start on this case? Should they put some summer intern on the list of phone numbers, and then figure out who did what?

i don't know who this visser is, but does he have the "I'm my own separate branch of government" defense?

Why? Ned Flanders confesses to stepping on daisies.

Why would I care? Ty asked the question, and I think it was rhetorical.

But perhaps if was a serious question. With fewer than 3 in 10 Americans approving of how W is doing his job, Ty might just be trying to provoke debate.
