The SFC (who uses a Dvorak keyboard, btw--our computers are set up to toggle back and forth) is broad-shouldered, mostly bald, blond with a dark red (full) beard. We're both on the tallish side.

I've thought about doing Hester Prynne and the Reverend Dimmesdale, or gypsy and pirate, but those also would require some work on my part, and I'll be pretty busy making robot costumes for my boys.

Genesis P-Orridge recently did a 3 night stand at Galapagos. A friend from Houston came up for all 3 nights. He ended up spending a good deal of his time here at the rehearsal studio of one of the band members right around the corner from me.* I'm unsure whether Genesis kissed him or not.

* dl, that's how I learned of the "Hirsute Pursuit" myspace page.

Let me come at this from a different perspective. Don't you suppose that a lot of black people watched the first TV shows that had major black characters and wanted to see how a bunch of white writers and producers would portray them? Were they crazy?

It's not that different for me. I can't recall watching another major character in a TV show who is meant to be a blatantly evangelical Christian and not a nun or minister. Most of the time I see one-note characters like a saintly helper of the poor or a Fred Phelps-like bigot. So I'm interested and hopeful that the writers will create a character that represents Christians fairly. Sue me.
This is why I'm sorry.

I was joking because the last episode consisted of an uproar caused by the oft-offended Christian demo about a skit they had never even seen. You said you would only watch if you liked the Christian character or something. There seemed to be a kind of neat sense of continuity from tv to your world.

I don't think your analogy makes much sense since there is no lack of Christian people, themes, characters, shows or channels on tv. I certainly didn't tune in to the show to see how the one black character would be portrayed though.

Don't forget the 400. Or the Don Valley Parkway. Because if you're over in the beaches, and you need to head up to the cottage, you're probably gonna want to take the Don Valley Parkway up to the 401, and then across to the 400.

By the way, there's a video out there somewhere of a guy walking across the 16 lanes of the 401, and ALMOST making it. But not quite.

Flower and Bee are E-Z. Here's how:

For the Flower, go out and get a package of flat crepe-paper. Dress entirely in green, for the stem, and then pull about 10 pieces of your favor color of crepe paper out, staple them to a thin scarf, wrap them around your next, and fluff them out -- Wala! Beautiful flower.

For the bee, get black and yellow tights. Cut the Black into strips about six inches thick, and then paste every other strip on to the yellow tights. Then get a yellow sweater, and some black scarfs. Wrap the scarves around to create stripes, tacking them to the sweater with a few stiches in several spots. Get a set of wings from your favorite party store, and either buy or make a set of antennas.

The Flower can be done in just minutes. The bee takes a little longer.

Helpful Heloise (sans Abelard)

We've done and done and done the Paul Bunyan/Babe costume, over several years with different groups of people, and one year we switched (the blue cow costume I made was plenty big), and one year I even had my parents wear it. So no more of that.

I do really like the Red Riding Hood/Wolf idea. Just need to get ears, tail and mitts for the SFC, and a fabulous red cape for me. I already have the perfect basket.

Thanks!
