Bush Relatives for Kerry

My apologies if this has already been posted. I was stuck in the airport all morning and have not caught up.

Bush Relatives for Kerry
It seems that cousins of cousins or nephews of cousins of GWB have designed a webpage throwing their support for Kerry.

from the site....we feel it is our responsibility to speak out about why we are voting for John Kerry, and to do our small part to help America heal from the sickness it has suffered since George Bush was appointed President in 2000. We invite you to read our stories, and please, don't vote for our cousin!

Could this be done even more subtly, and yet equally clearly, without capitalizing on someone's illness? Yes. In fact, the two candidates discussed this issue fairly tactfully in the debate, and without mentioning who was most likely to die next. Anyone want to bet that they, and particularly Kerry, will continue to do so?
Oh, please. Who gives a fuck? These assholes shouldn't be holding on to the job until their last breath anyway. Granted it would be stupid to say, "The Chief Judge is about to kick and you want to let Bush have a say in who replaces him?" But, good God. It shouldn't get to that point. Retire before you get old and senile and before you have one full foot and four toes on the other in the fucking grave. If you don't, don't whine about people talking out loud about replacing your old ass.

Depends on what we're voting for. If the issue is whether we find you some extra padding for your helmet, I vote in favor and will not be swayed.

Do you plan on pulling Billy R in to the Supremes to help decide Kerry v. Bush?

You very much said it that way. I found it quite clear that you would not accept a Presidential position that was not acceptable to Israel.

So is your position that the first Iraqi War did nothing in the Middle East, and that Kuwait is not a Democracy? George will be disappointed.

I said "2". Funny how you read that into "2."

In terms of US interests, the worst thing that could happen in the middle east would be the destruction of Israel.

Kuwait is a monoarchy. An absolute monarchy, to be exact. FYI - so is Qatar.

The first Iraqi war contained an aggressive, murderous dictator. We intereverened at the request of the Arab nations. It didn't however, end terrorism, which is what the current war is about - radically changing the middle east so that we can transform it into something other than the terrorist breeding ground and religious-inspired hate fest that it is.

This will be difficult to do if we continue to allow Israel a veto over US foreing policy. Brent Scowcroft doesn't seem to think W does a good job handling Sharon: "Sharon just has him wrapped around his little finger," Scowcroft told London's Financial Times. "I think the president is mesmerized."

GWB is not mesmerized by Sharon. He recognizes that Israel is an ally in the war on terror and is being attacked by terrorist the same as we are and is entitled to fight back the same as we are.

Well, to keep things in perspective, I think it quite likely he didn't meet with "all" the member of the security council as he said. Several of the "less important" have said he did not. To be fair to JFK, he may have met with all those he finds important. To be fair to our friends, he should find them all important and not make such a careless statement.

Earlier, I told you all that the 380 tons of explosives were bad to lose, but that mistakes happen in war, and that your cries for perfection were unreasonable. I must apologize and retract that statement.

We have destroyed over 100000 tons of explosives and hold 140000 more. we lost 380 tons? Perspective?

Quote:

To date, 110,000 tons have been destroyed. An additional 138,000 tons are stored behind protective barriers. Saddam seemed to hoard this cornucopia of death aimlessly. "There are no aisles to walk down. It's just heaped," he said. "It just blows your mind to see this stuff."

Hank, I'm glad that we managed to destroy lots of explosives. By the way, what kind of explosives did we destroy and/or keep? Apparently the stuff we found, then abandoned, and then "lost" were especally toxic stuff.
  • HOW MUCH BANG FOR THE BUCK? Most people have probably never heard of RDX, HMX, and PETN, the types of explosives that were looted from al Qaqaa. (Neither did I until I started researching this recently.) Depending on how you ask, these are either the most powerful or among the most powerful conventional explosives that exist. So how much boom do you get for 380 tons of the stuff? My friend and fellow blogger Phillip Carter, a former Army captain, e-mails with an attempt at a back-of-the-envelope calculation, using a "how many Oklahoma City bombings" metric. Here's the result:
OK City = 5,000 pounds/2,300 kg of ammonium-nitrate and nitromethane.
This mix has a TNT equivalent ranging from 3%-10%, i.e. the OK City bomb is the equivalent of 150 - 500 pounds of TNT.

AQQ = 380 tons of RDX, HMX and PETN. RDX and PETN have a TNT equivalent value of 170%. Converted into TNT, the AQQ stockpile equals 646 tons or 1,292,000 pounds of explosives.

Convert this back into my OK City metric, and this means that the lost material at AQQ equals betwen 2,584 - 8613 OK City-size bombs. That's one hell of a lot of material to be on the street -- enough to fuel a car-bomb and IED-based insurgency for years, if not decades.

Chilling thought. Even if the order of magnitude is off by, say, two decimal places.
