Punk Rock Guitarist Robert Quine Found Dead

By Chris Morris and Jonathan Cohen

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK (Billboard) - Guitarist Robert Quine, one of punk rock's most daring soloists, was found dead Saturday in his New York apartment. He was 61.

According to close friend and guitar maker Rick Kelly, who discovered Quine's body, the musician died of a heroin overdose Memorial Day weekend. He had been despondent over the recent death of his wife.
Double damn. I liked his work, too.

Hall of Famer Roosevelt Brown dies

New York, NY, Jun. 10 (UPI) -- Hall of Fame tackle Roosevelt Brown, an NFL star in the 1950s and '60s, died Wednesday at his New Jersey home, the league reported. He was 71.

The report did not give the cause of death, but the Star-Ledger in Newark, N.J., said Brown died of an apparent heart attack. He lived in Mansfield Township, Burlington County.

Brown, who played for the Giants from 1953 to 1965, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1975.

"Rosey was not only a fantastic football player but a wonderful man," said Hall of Fame President John Bankert. "He was a great friend of the Hall of Fame and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Lynda and his entire family at this very difficult time."

Report: Johnny Ramone dying of cancer
Guitarist has had prostate cancer for four years

Johnny Ramone, 55, whose real name is John Cummings, was diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago, and it has now spread throughout his body.

“Johnny’s been a champ in confronting this, but at this point I think the chances are slim,” Marky Ramone said in the report. “John never smoked cigarettes, he wasn’t a heavy drinker and he was always into his health. It just proves when cancer seeks a body to penetrate, it doesn’t matter how healthy you are or how unhealthy you are."

I am deeply saddened.

Agreed. That sucks. Was everybody in that band destined to die young?

Un-fucking-believeable.

Now even that retard Shape Shifter has a point. If everyone else "goes over" I win right? Like in the SB pool.

by my count, six people had Marlon Brando. Those people are: Aloha, tmdiva, lookingformarket, Burger, Anne Elk (those five have now moved into the tie for first place with 2 picks each), and ShapeShifter (now has one pick). Doing the math here, looks like 9 people are tied with 2 picks each. None of the leaders had Brando on their lists.

I'd love to be on the board finally, but you don't really think Brando's dead, do you? He's just hiding on an island somewhere.

Gangsta: Picking Brando, then denying he's dead.
Punk rock: Picking Andy Kaufman.

Douglas

Kirk Douglas’ youngest son found dead
Eric Douglas, 46, discovered in New York apartment building

In other sad news, Scotty (James Doohan) was just diagnosed with Alzheimers.
Doohan, who lives in the Seattle suburb of Redmond, also has suffered for some time with Parkinson’s disease, diabetes and fibrosis, the latter due to chemical exposure during World War II when he was a soldier in the Canadian military.

He plans to attend a three-day “Star Trek” farewell convention, Aug. 28-30, in Hollywood, Stevens said. All surviving members of the original Enterprise crew are scheduled to attend, including William Shatner, who played Capt. James T. Kirk, and Leonard Nimoy.
