I do not side with the Bilmorian camp because I do not know whether dollar dances are, in fact, as common as he states, and also I am not against the high falutin', mileu-using, cake-eaters who believe the dollar dance is an appallingly tacky poor, white, trailer trash cracker sort of thing. But nor am I in the Debt-Slavian camp, for I am not against those salt-of-the-earth, regular joe, good Midwestern real people folk who not only think dollar dances are perfectly acceptable, but also recognize that they are similar to many time-honored ethinic traditions, and that they may be just the thing to lessen the debt of the upcoming honeymoon. I also refuse to take a position because the FB seems particularly sensitive these days, and I am concerned that if I took a position, Taxwonk would call me a shmuck again. And that really hurt.
Can you blame Wonk for calling you a schmuck? Can you blame FBers for being sensitive? For what is fashionable in a world where Johnny Knoxville appears on the cover of GQ? Where society at large turns its collective back on True Art and High Fashion such as Gigli, yet simultaneously embraces reality tv? Fashion is no longer fashionable. Bull, cow. Dispense wisdom if you will, but filthy mammals will return to their ways like Morna to her hoodies and headbands.

With all fashionable respect to ethnic traditions, if I pay a dollar for a dance, I wanna see boob. If I pay more, my clothes better be dusted with stripperglitter.

The documentary on the making of Warren Zevon's "The Wind" broadcast last night on VH-1 was one of the most poignant things I've ever watched.

For those unfamiliar with Zevon - a truly underappreciated American songwriter - he was diagnosed last autumn with terminal lung cancer and told he had 3 months to live. Rather than mope, he gathered a number of close friends to record a final album, "The Wind", which is released tomorrow. Parts of the album had to be recorded from his home, as he became too weak to get to the studio.

Zevon has outlived his doctor's predictions, strengthened by the determination to see the birth of his twin grandchildren.

I would give a dollar to dance with either of these 2, I might give slightly more to see either dance, and I won't mention other contributions to them, as that would be a Politics Board matter

Yeah, that was excellent. You could see Letterman actually start to get misty. It was weird having Billy Bob narrate though.

It was on right after Aerosmith - behind the music. Also really good. Who knew they had their own Yoko?

More Cracker

WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 — More large U.S. companies prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation and adopted other gay- and lesbian-friendly policies during the past year, according to a gay rights’ group survey released Monday. Corporations scoring 100 included Aetna Inc., Bank One Corp., Intel Corp., Lehman Brothers Holding Inc. and Nike Inc.
Among the five lowest-ranked companies, with a score of 14, were Exxon Mobil Corp., whose shareholders repeatedly have voted down proposals calling for the company to explicitly oppose discrimination against gays and lesbians, and Domino’s Inc.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., known for its conservative values, improved its rating to 43 after broadening its non-discrimination policy to cover sexual orientation and instituting diversity training.
The Cracker Barrel restaurant chain, part of CBRL Group , jumped from zero last year to 29 after it dropped opposition to a shareholder proposal asking the company to include sexual orientation in its non-discrimination policy and later adopted the policy.

Better question...how do you score a 0?
