The Warriors? Of course. That movie kicked ass. And back then it was enjoyed by many in my neighborhood because you got to see a movie with white people as gang members (imagine the shock!). It didn't do much for most stereotypes, but it was a fun movie. Can you dig it?

You seem very bitter and negative. You should try to be more mellow and positive. Like me. I recently made a mixed CD with a lot of down tempo, ambient lounge-electronica, world beat-electronica, and other mellow, positive songs on it. If you want, I can send it to you and you can listen to it and maybe it will help you to become more mellow and positive. I think there are a few others around here who probably should listen to it as well, but I get the sense that they would not react well to constructive criticism of the type I am now offering.

I wasn't allowed to see R-rated movies in 1979, but I recall thinking the same thing: "If this is such a seminal movie of the era, why has no one ever mentioned it since 1979?" It looked like it was ripe for some MST3King, that's for sure.

I suspect that some of the panelists for "I Love the '70s" were given advance notice of the topics. In particular, Mo Rocca, Michael Ian Black, and to a lesser degree Hal Sparks always looked polished enough that they'd given some thought to their witticisms before delivering them.

I wasn't either, but I did manage to see Used Cars at the drive-in with my family in '76. Mom was none too pleased to discover it was R rated for more than just foul language. I spent a good portion of the movie with mom's hand over my eyes and dad got a good bawling out. Good times.

My parents had no strong views about the rating system until that fateful evening at dinner when my then 5 year old sister called my then 8 year old brother a faggot at the dinner table. The Breakfast Club was blamed, and we were grounded from rated R movies for a few months after that.

The Warriors is a classic. I have probably seen it or parts of it over 10 times. "Warriors, come out and play-ay-ay" was in the vernacular of my entire high school.

What is sad is that, given the advance notice, most of these people still have nothing to say worth the breath they expended on it. "Princess Leia had stupid hair." Gee, thanks.

Totally and completely agree on Walken. Love him in just about everything, even that stupid video where he dances by himself.

That said, what's the deal with his new release? Where he gets back billing to the Rock? I saw the poster and could not believe that the Rock and Seann William Scott get billing over Walken?

I love the "I love the 70s"
 

Michael Ian Black's cumultive performance in "I love the 70s" and "I love the 80s" should garner him an Emmy. Mo Rocca and Hal Sparks rise up to meet the challenge on rare occasions, but it's MIB's world. I cannot WAIT for "I love the 80s Strikes Back," coming in October! It's a good time to be alive.

Warriors was big in certain circles around my high school. The dialogue on this board today shows why it's going to be remade by a big hollywood studio in a year or two. It'll be good and slick, but by its nature has no chance of having the cool cache of the original; kind of like the Italian Job.

I've always wanted to try to fight my way from Central Park back to Coney. But how come they're supposedly safe once they get there? Even if it is their home turf, there's no way they wouldn't get their ass beat by everyone else. IThough I wasn't a New York gang-member in the late 70s, I kind of have the feeling it captures its time and place perfectly, much the way Swingers did with mid-90s LA.
