The best ever commentary on Top Gun was by Quinten Tarantino in the otherwise forgettable movie Sleep With Me.

She's got the cap on, she's got the aviator glasses, she's wearing the same jacket that the Iceman wears. She is, okay, this is how I gotta get this guy, this guy's going towards the gay way, I gotta bring him back, I gotta bring him back from the gay way, so I'm do that through subterfuge, I'm gonna dress like a man. All right? That is how she approaches it.

Okay, now let me just ask you--I'm gonna digress for two seconds here. I met this girl Amy here, she's like floating around here and everything. Now, she just got divorced, right?...

All right, but the REAL ending of the movie is when they fight the MIGs at the end, all right? Because he has passed over into the gay way. They are this gay fighting fucking force, all right? And they're beating the Russians, the gays are beating the Russians. And it's over, and they fucking land, and Iceman's been trying to get Maverick the entire time, and finally, he's got him, all right? And what is the last fucking line that they have together? They're all hugging and kissing and happy with each other, and Ice comes up to Maverick, and he says, "Man, you can ride my tail, anytime!" And what does Maverick say? "You can ride mine!" Swordfight! Swordfight! Fuckin' A, man!

1)The irony here is that you know Jun, who loves to cook, will probably cook her brains out to keep this Bob person in her life. I feel a little badly for her putting all her chips (and twinkies! no wonder she is so plump) on the tv table like this, as Bob's note to her didnt seem to indicate an interest in rekindling. It reeked of BB4 calling him and putting him on the spot.

I also don't think, for a minute, that Jun seems to fit that stereotype of subservient Asian chick that the rice daddies seem to go for.

2) I have to be mainly correct in saying that Atticus thinks you are dehumanizing the white men who love asian chicks by calling them rice daddies. [EDIT here to say I really fucked this sentence up by typing and talking on the phone at the same time]

3) lets talk about Jee. We know he is dating one "Carmen". We knwo from Jun that Jee is "a freak in bed". Is this a case of the non-Asian women being just for practice, but not marriageable? I ask this, bc as an armchair sociologist, I notice that while you will see many Asian women-non Asian men marriages in the NYT, you very rarely see it the other way. And I wonder why this is. Is it bc the men are more traditional? Do they prefer asian women to the nons? is the small dick urban legend stymieing their hopes with non Asians?

Back before modern medicine, conventional wisdom was that a linen rag wrapped around a gangrenous toe could save the toe (and thus the foot and the leg). The rag was icky and gross, so now it's an insult.

So, if we got another bunch of Amish kids, threw them into a Manhattan apartment, and let them vote each other off the island (and presumably forcibly taken back to Pennsylvania), I bet we could have a great reality show. Add to the mix that the winner gets a pile of money, his own beard trimmer, and a wild night with Sarah Jessica Parker and we'd have a hit! Amish Survivor would be money, baby, money!
