2. I daresay that I read more liberal blogs than Bilmore and Hank, and I don't know anyone in those blogs that a) cites to DU or b) admits to reading DU. I honestly thought that Bilmore was talking about Ducks Unlimited the first time he mentioned them.

I think we cite to them mainly for the same reasons that others here cite to the fringe religious right - entertainment value. They probably represent comparable influences in the parties.

I hadn't heard of it until you posted it (whiff, I know). But if you bothered to read any of the responses, you'd notice that many of the DU posters disavowed the position taken in the original post and stated that it did not reflect the opinion of the DU community as a whole.

Do you think Dean is as far to the left as Ashcroft is to the right? I don't think that Ashcroft is as extreme as some people do, but I still think that's a bit odd.

When Dean pens a ditty as sickening as "Let the Eagle Soar", then you can equate the two. Talk about torture as policy - I'd rather be stuck in a room listening to "You Light Up My Life" or "There's Got to Be a Morning After" for the rest of my life than that thing.

If all you are looking for is that sentiment, shoot Ty was bothered that the vote happened. Ty wouldn't put the reason as colorfully as the DU guy, but he is sorry the vote happened sucessfully.
