Read this, it's incredible.
No thanks. I don' t know if you've noticed, but you and bilmore are the only ones that quote that site, and as far as I know the only ones that read it. I suspect that a correlation exists in that, but I admire your determination to swim against the tide.

I just want Pelosi or someone to quote Ty's article!
Boxer. Send a note to Boxer. Remember, the party has her face now. So I've heard.

2. I daresay that I read more liberal blogs than Bilmore and Hank, and I don't know anyone in those blogs that a) cites to DU or b) admits to reading DU. I honestly thought that Bilmore was talking about Ducks Unlimited the first time he mentioned them.

I think we cite to them mainly for the same reasons that others here cite to the fringe religious right - entertainment value. They probably represent comparable influences in the parties.

The identity of the outgoing AG suggests differently. Care for more examples, or is the Annointed One enough?

What Forums do you read at DU?

I hadn't heard of it until you posted it (whiff, I know). But if you bothered to read any of the responses, you'd notice that many of the DU posters disavowed the position taken in the original post and stated that it did not reflect the opinion of the DU community as a whole.

Proper Planning by our agencies

I thought this was funny:

"Eastern Ukraine is heavily ethnic Russian. The main industry is coal. The miners are rough, tough, and hate Yushchenko for wanting to take Ukraine away from Russia and toward the West," writes Wheeler. "It was arranged for more than a thousand of them to be taken from Donetsk, the capital of the coal-mining region, by bus and train to Kiev, where, armed with clubs and blunt tools, they would physically beat up the Orange Revolutionaries. Such mass violence was not only to disperse the demonstrators but serve as an excuse for the government to declare martial law, suspending the Ukrainian Parliament (the Rada) and elections indefinitely."

Now comes the secret weapon: vodka.

"When the miners got on their buses and trains, they found to their joy case after case of vodka – just for them. When they arrived in Kiev, trucks awaited them filled with more cases of vodka – all free provided by 'friends' of the Donetsk coal miners. Completely soused, they never made it to Independence Square. Too hammered blind to cause any violence at all, they had a merry time, passed out and were shipped back to Donetsk." . . .

Wheeler's column goes on to explain who provided the liquor: teams of Porter Goss' CIA working with their counterparts in British MI6 intelligence."

I'll raise you one incoming chair of the DNC.

Like I said - comparable influence.

Replaced_Texan 02-01-2005 01:38 PM

I could have told you this without conducting the study

Of course, they'll go ahead and commission the abstinance programs anyways, and then claim that we Dems are the ones that don't know how to use government dollars on domestic programs wisely.
And now the Vatican looks like it's on board with condom use.

Could it be that every sperm is in fact not sacred?

Do you think Dean is as far to the left as Ashcroft is to the right? I don't think that Ashcroft is as extreme as some people do, but I still think that's a bit odd.

I'm not a Dean fan, but I don't recall hearing him say anything about the Iraqi vote making him sick. Keep looking.

First you said that DU was a comparable influence to the RR. Now Dean is a comparable influence to the RR? I wish you would settle on one position.

Oh wait - Dean IS the DU! Oh, okay, my bad. Carry on.

When Dean pens a ditty as sickening as "Let the Eagle Soar", then you can equate the two. Talk about torture as policy - I'd rather be stuck in a room listening to "You Light Up My Life" or "There's Got to Be a Morning After" for the rest of my life than that thing.

Not the real Dean - the Dean of Vermont - but the Dean persona of 2004, yeah, I do. And that's the persona that's being selected to lead the party for four years.

If all you are looking for is that sentiment, shoot Ty was bothered that the vote happened. Ty wouldn't put the reason as colorfully as the DU guy, but he is sorry the vote happened sucessfully.
