This is what a politics board is. You need to find a board on which everyone takes turn praising each other's candidates and exchanging bread recipes. I'm not sure this here is good for your emotional health.
As I said earlier, fuck off. You were criticizing me for having jumped down the throat of two posters for being off-topic in their bitching. Bringing up Hillary in response to criticisms of Bush that have nothing to do with her is akin to when rauoaaoauaoaoal, faced with criticism of what he has posted, responds by saying the person who disagrees with him must be ugly and socially maladjusted.

Yeah, duh, no one would argue that I am conservative. However, the behavior I was criticizing was the stupidity and nonsubstantiveness, coupled with extreme hostility. And I criticized both sides on that. And you made a snarky ox-goring comment that was extremely off-target. Hence, once again, I say "fuck off."

That is par for the course around here.

Ah . . . I'm beginning to see the problem. Hank is yet another victim of the vast left-wing conspiracy to keep conservatives from participating in our political discussions though the careful use of compound sentences and big words. Perhaps some huge, inefficient government program can help you work through that. Remember, its no "handicapped", its "handi-capable"!

My concern for your emotional health was misplaced. There is no danger of further damage.

I find this funny in light of your assertion that the political discourse of our country is much harsher in tone now than it ever was during the Clinton years.

All the best for a happy holiday season,
Larry

fringe, I wasn't off topic with the Hillary reference. I believe everyone on the board would agree that I am not one of the cheap clinton jokes, Hillary does all bad, kind of poster.

that said, you can always yell at me. I don't care. as an aside, i am beginning to see why infirm banned Tyrone.

Bush on the steel thing

Bush says his decision to drop the steel tariffs had nothing to do with the WTO decision or the looming trade war he was about to start -- no, the tariffs achieved their purpose, says he. Those of us who question his truthfulness will find this hard to believe. You don't have to be an economist to figure that out. Although the lousy job done by the press in covering this doesn't help.

My impression is that you are mainly correct on this. But, honest to god, it seems like this board gets increasingly polarized every day. I find it disturbing.

I'm not sure how to interpret this, but thank you, I guess.

When did that happen? I didn't follow the old politics board except on a very few occasions when taxes were being discussed. If it was toward the end, my last several posts would have gotten me banned toot sweet what with all the fucking. Anyway, I agree that Ty is kinda the equivalent of bilmore, but not quite as bad. However, I tend agree with him so it bothers me less. It does bother me, though. I tend to skim when it seems particularly bad (e.g., when things get to the point where there are point-for-point rebuttals).

This board is simply a microcosm of American society.

But they DID accomplish their purpose.

They bought some votes in PA, WV, and OH.

(Of course, they cost jobs in the same places, and more, and represent a complete departure from what conservative economic philosophy is supposed to be, and were just all-around stoopid, but , hey, who's counting?)

It's called spin. I'm starting to think you are now beyond reach.

I know why he's saying it. The rationale is such a recent invention, though. Can you say just anything so long as you're spinning? Do you not read what he and Zoellick said and say to yourself, "Man, everyone knows what's going on here, but do they have to make it so clear that they have no shame?"
