did he have bad breath? Like all he'd really had for several days was coffee, onions and garlic and he unfortunately had no dental hygeine materials?

Who is Irving K anyway? You act as if this is someone we should know.

In this photo she looks like a less attractive Laura Dern with Jessica Simpson wannabe hair.

Is the Roy Horn lookalike this guy from West Wing (Bradley Whitford)?http://www2.warnerbros.com/westwingt...os/cast_03.jpg

she admitted it was a smack at Slave. she just noted that the tiger was not, in fact, a representation of Slave's collected discarded hair.

I once saw him driving his convertible BMW on Crescent Heights. I'm sure that's ironic in some way. I just can't think of what it is.

God I miss those guys. That Fred, he sure was crazy. And Sara, Saraaaaa.

In other news, I can report that in this summer, the summer of the remake, some will be better than others. Manchurian Candidate -- good. Trust me on this. Denzel doesn't phone it in. Meryl Streep -- very very very good. Jonathan Demme? Still got it.

As far as Stepford Wives goes . . . well it's short. And Nicole Kidman looks awesome with short black hair. And there's some quite funny bits.

That's about all I got.

You know Roland Garros time is getting closer when the Jana Novotna references start flying.

That reminds me of the time I was out on the pampas with Guillermo Vilas . . .

I think I was in that class. Video of Hank and the Professor. {Warning: Windows Media; sound.}

In other news, I'm watching the VH1 thing on shitty songs, and I have a crush on Katty Biscone. She's not in IMDB; has she done anything? str8, can you get me a "meeting"?

Can anyone tell me the breed of dog in the Mastercard commercial currently airing on network TV? The one that rides on the motorcycle/sidecar?

Help me out here, sebby, I need a rant. I HATE HATE HATE the guy who feels the need to ask a question of EVERY speaker at the CLE. I was willing to go along when he asked a question about privilege waiver issues in electronic discovery; he may have an issue before him currently. I didn't mind so much when he asked how new FERC rules meshed with SOX; he may have been sleeping during this part, like I was. But when he asked a question of the humorlous windbag who managed to go 15 minutes over his allotted time discussing developments with third party financings in the LNG industry, I knew the questioner was another soul-less, bluebook-worshipping dweebenheimer seeking external validation through hearing the sound of his own voice. Like we all met in law school (if you didn't meet him, you were him).

So, sebby, a rant please, telling us how annoying this type of motherfucker is. Preferably something involving the offender trussed up like a suckling pig and roasted over slow heat for several hours until tender and moist, waiting for me at the buffet lunch on a warming tray with an apple stuffed in his overly opened mouth. Please include something about which fork to use.
CLE? Hit the hotel bar before the conference and knock back two stiff drinks, and bring a pad to do timesheets or several magazines or papers. I find CLE to be offensive and childish. The market polices itself - we don't need a pack of state bar-funded drones making sure we're up to snuff. If we fuck up, malpractice insurance should cover it. My Ayn Rand rant on that matter aside, the best way to deal with a questioner at CLE is to politely take him aside at the break and say "Hey, I have to get back to my kids and I'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't cause this thing to run on longer than it should. In fact, I'd really like to cut out early, and I think a lot of people are in the same boat." We used to use a variation of this on the shitheads who asked questions during night seminars in law school ("I work nights and really need to get out on time..."). Shame and guilt are excellent motivators.

I personally find the speaker/teacher/lecture medium utterly useless. I can only learn from reading and doing. I've always wondered whether I'm the exception or the rule. I cannot recall any time in my life where I did not daydream through almost the entire lecture. It seems terribly unfair to people who learn as I do to have to sit through such lectures. Imagine how many countless hours I've wasted.

My time is precious, as you can see...

ETA: If you can understand the blue book, you have no soul. I still don't get it. I learned to cite by taking papers from the finest white shoe NYC firm I worked with and just copying whetever they did. So far its worked, but if you asked me what the rules are, I have no fucking idea. That's idiot work for rule custodians to discuss. That said, I am a dweeb on procedure, but not because I find it interesting. Frequently, I have nothing but procedural defenses, so I've been forced to learn the rules. And yes, I feel like a tool when I win on procedure.
