I've heard the accounts from a family member who went and flunked out after 3/4ths. It is a climate and diet-sensitive combat school. Basically, they teach you to survive in the desert, the swamps, the mountains and the forest (or something like that). You do the school in phases in different places. And they starve you. Shorter people (who are in decent shape) tend to survive a starvation diet better than taller people.

FWIW, Navy Seals have a (or at least used to have an) above-average failure rate for Ranger school.

My source's training unit was brought out after the third phase, with 1/2 of the class already gone. They entered, I forget, but I think Ft. Stewart in the morning and were ordered not to go anywhere near food until 4 PM. *Some* people couldn't stay away from the PX because they were so goddamned hungry. They were booted when they were caught.

The beauty of it is, they invite you to restart the school with the next class.

But, in the last 6 weeks, you've lost 40 pounds which you spent 6 months putting on in the expectation of what you'd suffer in the school. So, without 6 months to regain the weight and strength, you shuffle away and continue life as an infantry lieutenant (of above-average height) in air assault. For example.

It is not PC. PC is when you intimidate people from saying things by screaming racists, etc. Funny thing is that the PC crowd only applies their standards when things are being said about a group that they like. If they don't like the group, i.e., white and/or Christian, then they allow you to speak.

I have no probleme with calling someone who is actually a racist a racist. But when anytime someone says anything unflattering about a black person people start screaming racist, it is boring and of course desensitizes people to real racism.

Why there is a disparity between interracial couples, i.e., why there are more black man-white woman couples than black woman-white man couples, is a serious and legitimate topic. If it were just about love, there wouldn't be a disparity.

Same is true of white-asian couples. It is much more common to see white men with asian women than to see white women with asian men. It is not all about love.

That's free speech. Just because it's a majority of people telling you to shut the fuck up doesn't make it oppression.

The only political correctness that ever presented a threat was college speech codes, which academic leftists embraced briefly in the early '90s before it became entirely obvious that it was a stuuuuuuuupid idea and left college graduates unprepared for interacting in the work place with GPs and CEOs. Little did they know jocks and rednecks would perform such a useful function in the academy.

However, the tradition of turning away, embarrassed, when Uncle Ed starts giving you his theory about how we were all better off under segregation?
