Excellent attempt to undermine everything the Bush administration is doing right there.

Do you have any idea how much this post demonstrates your utter ignorance. In 2004 Iraq GNP was $ 54,400,000,000. Do you know how much money we paid Haliburton? It would be a raindrop in the ocean. This is a country with 25 million people and has the 73 largest economy in the world. That puts in it the top third. I am pretty sure US payments made to Haliburton for construction would not be figured in this number, but even if it were it would be minimal.

Prior to the first Gulf War Iraqs GDP had fallen by a third since Hussein had come to office. Of course after 1991 it continued to fall because of sanctions. Now it is bouncing back. If we could just keep the growth in the double digits the recover would be astounding.

I have been reading the Economist for twenty years and had a novice's interest in Economics that whole time. I have never heard of a growth rate that high. Never even close. Before that number the highest I had ever seen was 22% and that was considered a miracle.

The sad thing is that she doesn't and neither do her comrades here. Its that type of comment that passes for high-intellect on the left. Plus they will never be willing to give Bush credit, no matter how successful Iraq is.

The Republicans need to just keep moving the nation forward and leaving the democrats behind to stew in the memories of the Great Society that never was and their own urine soaked Depends.

In an effourt to bridge the rhetorical and partisan divide here, as I leave for the weekend, I offer an olive branch and message to the leftists and democrat party regulars who live amongst us here.

Bombing.. Go Figre

The Serbian actually lived in Belgrade when the US bombed. She said that the concussions from the bombs were so intense and they were so frequent that people actually got motion sickness. Peoples guts were getting moved around so much they were puking all over the place. How pleasant.

O'Reilly claimed he'd won a Peabody award (while he was with some entertainment show, but whatever). When they were on a panel together, Franken pointed out that he'd asked the folks at Peabody and they told him they had no records of O'Reilly winning the award. O'Reilly then said he'd never said he'd won a Peabody, and that he'd won a Polk award. Franken the pulled out the Lexis transcript of O'Reilly saying he'd won a Peabody. O'Reilly stormed off the panel. Franken pointed out later that Entertainment Weekly had won a Polk Award, but it was after O'Reilly had left the show.

Bad blood ever since.

Sir Francis Drake - what a stud

Another interesting fact. From 1573 to 1588 Sir Francis Drakes Pirate activites in the Caribean brought in three quarters of a million pounds. Twice the annual tax revenues of the entire British Government. Elizabeth used this money to clear the national debt in 1581.

No wonder the Spanish were peeved and tried to invade England.

Read the book (A Prayer for Owen Meany) - it is really, really, really, good. One of the funniest books I have ever read.
