I think it's more a product of where you come from. If you grew up in the ghetto, you probably never learned to swim. No pools. No lakes. No skinny dipping watering holes. No beach. Just fire hydrants. Kind of sad.

That said, I have seen reality shows where the black person manages to tread water for quite some time.

Great show. Sometimes hard to watch. Last week had one of the best moments in reality tv I've seen. Joe's breakdown. Producers and actors questioning the whole thing and their participation in it.

Someone sent me an interesting article on the show where the author thought that Joe might actually be an actor (hired by the show) who was pulling the wool over all of the other actors' and low level producers' eyes. Now that would be fucking cool.

Which is apparently why Louie Armstrong has outlived the fat comic average lifespan and keeps on ticking...

Onion article

Posted without even smart-assedy commentary from the peanut gallery, not even a one-liner, because it hits so close to home. The headline: 48-Hour Internet Outage Plunges Nation Into Productivity.

Does it help to know that my brother's penis is named "Gordon" after the Sesame Street character of the same name? Does it further help to know that the nickname is attributed to an alleged resemblance to said character (though I have no FHK of the truth of that allegation)?

Please post a picture of said Sesame Street character and I will get back to you on the resemblance. Or paigow will. Or possibly Dualit, but only if your brother is old enough that he was available before Dualit became monogamous (I think he said he is now).

Not to ride on Gwinky's coattails, but since it works, and since I have never been on the bus, and since living vicariously through her has been so satisfying, all I have to ass is, concur. See, Greta, your free rider argument is inapposite, because your gift is something that you are obligated to share with those of us whose lives have not been as fully lived as your own, and your prose serves as a beakon to those who may have lived fully but nonetheless cannot spin their life experiences into a gossamer confection as tasty as cotton candy or sausage.

My blood sugar just took a serious drop so forgive me this post, like you have so many others.

While I am not sure what half of ths means, and if this is a tribute or you are merely tributing, or whether this is serious, I do want to say that I appreciate gwink's sentiement and possibly yours, assuming I am Greta (which I have no idea if that is what you meant). But I did not step down from the stage in an attempt to get an SI style, "PLEASE, DONT" chorus of sobs and pleas from the board. I did it bc I am not in the business of pleasing voyeuristic partners. Not in real life and not here in the land of Fabulous Bullshit.

So thank you. :).

Anatomically difficult, I'd imagine, but I'll take your word for it.

Perhaps Rush does belong on TV. He's just on the wrong channel.

Come to think of it, I think he bears a resemblance to penises in the generic sense, but I'll defer to those with larger sample sizes.

Everytime I stop at a stop sign, the car slides into the intersection before coming to a stop. It keeps happening, no matter how far in advance I apply the brakes. I keep driving anyway. There must be something in that.

My work stress dream involves (sadly enough) work. In the midst of a big deal, I sometimes dream about revising documents, and wake up tired (and pissed that I wasted even subconscious time thinking about that stuff).

Either that, or it's a falling dream. I'm walking along and either through jumping or something else am catapulted hundreds of feet into the air. The ground approaches quickly and it's not going to be pretty.

Oddly enough, I finally watched Hulk the other day and saw this leaping/falling dream in action. I don't remember being green, pissed, and screaming in those dreams, but then again I don't remember carrying a mirror at the time.

Question is, did you bill for it?

NY Times story

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/10/01/nyregion/01DEAT.html

[spree: sad story about dad killing 8 year old son]

The main reason I posted this here is that several of the reported angles troubled me.

Why is the Times putting in references by some unidentified parent that maybe this 8 year old kid who was just murdered might have been kind of bossy at school? Relevance?

Why report that the house appeared empty the next day and then discuss what photos the reporter could see through the living room window? Creepy. Invasive. Potentially helpful to would-be burglers. Noteworthy?

Why try to boil debt securitization down to "basically selling i.o.u.'s" as though he was doing something shady or something?

So has the Times just lost it or what?

Let's hope not, or the future does not augure well for my firm.

Photos are helpful to get a sense, however superficial, of the people you're about to meet. It can be misleading, though, if the attorney uses the image as a vehicle not for what is, but for what em wants to be. For example, up until I met him IRL, I expected Penske to be a dead ringer for Etta James.
