This one is true. Orange, Grape, punch flavored drinks are much more popular in black neighborhoods than white. However, I think it's because blacks tend to want some flavor in their drinks and meals. Spice or sweet, blacks stay away from the bland.* White people tend to be much more sensitive to spicey things and are either programmed by commercials to ask for coke everytime or just like it more.**

I don't know how many of my white friends can't eat Indian or Chinese or anything with spice in it because it burns their tongues or upsets their delicate little protected stomachs.

I also know black people who carry hot sauce with them to cure blandness.

*May also explain the aversion to mayonnaise (although I never heard of this and have many black friends who like tuna salad, potato salad and macaroni salad).

I once was so pissed at an opposing plaintiff's attorney that I printed his full-body pic off the website and made a stick-puppet out of him complete with lipstick and little horns - it was well worth the effort and I think it got put away in the file after the case was dismissed.

Maybe it's a geography thing, but it seems to me that more plaintiff's lawyers have their pics on their websites as a marketing tool than other types of firms - that and on the back of the yellow pages.

Well, in defense of Annie, that might not be true. Here in Podunkville there's a pretty strong and growing sentiment that "black" is not acceptable, and that one must use "African American" instead. I have had people correct me. Even when I was talking about a dude from some St. Somewhere island that wasn't part of the good old US of A. By the way, I never did get an answer from the African American as appropriate term person as to what to call a person from, say, Haiti.

The irony is that "black" used to be considered almost as bad as the n-word (at least according to some pre-WWII history books I have read). My saintly yet racist grandfather was a cop in a machine-run Northern city in that era, and "black bastard" was the preferred racial epithet used by him. Meanwhile, polite society used "colored" (see e.g. National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), and then "Negro" (as in the United Negro College Fund) before "black" was adopted. I could be wrong, but I think that it was Elijah Mohammed and the Black Muslims who first started using "black" and it was quite controversial.*

I've been mainlining stomach medication for years due to a genetic condition. Does this mean I'm probably of Mayflower lineage? Because if its true, I'm going to challenge Fenniweather to a duel next time he snubs me from his bridge game at the club for being a dirty Catholic immigrant.

First, she said her aim (or duty?) was to forgive and forget. That's like saying "my aim is to lose weight" between bites of an enormous fat-laden chocolate cake while waiting to eat from a trough of creme brulee.

Second, who are we shunning? People who have sex outside the bounds of matrimony? Or just people who have sex when they are married to someone else? Or does it only count if the person has kids? Haven't a few people on here (perhaps it was anonymously) confessed to cheating on spouses? Definitely girlfriends/boyfriends. Should we shun them? Have you ever cheated on a bf? Shame. I throw ashes on you.

My (black) mentee's family has a liter bottle of Tabasco on their table at all times....and several more in the pantry for back-up in case they run out. It seems a little excessive to me and my delicate stomach, but to each his own.

It's socially abhorrent to get all up in other people's business though too. If you don't condone the cheating, don't invite the cheaters to your parties. You don't have to verbally assault people every time you see them, or go out of your way to let them know you think they suck.
