Hank and Penske have never said anything that would lead me to the conclusion that they are racists. They are probably against affirmative action (or at least the brand of affirmative action that embraces preferences and quotas) but so am I. They are also not socialists. My guess is Hank and Penske don't like Le Pen much either.

You all miss the point. i don't care if we neutron bomb their next convention- I don't care if we nuke the whole country. I like Oregon wine better than French- I like Italian wine even better. But I like that there media admits it controls it's content to meet its whims and political beliefs.

In a real model the media should simply report all and let us reach the conclusion the far right is bad.

Generally agree, but note that VA has two GOP Senators, a majority GOP House reps from the state, and (I think a majority GOP in the state legislature.) Kaine was undoubtedly helped by a popular outgoing governor, but in a state like VA, having a Democratic politician elected is not that easily done.

Partially. Chirac still stands by his main principle, which is "it's our responsibility to welcome them into our society and make them a part of us, and we've fucked that up royally." I saw his weasely utterances for a bit as . . . well, . . . weasely - but really, I've sort of been impressed that he's not called out the army and steamrolled the immigrant cities. He's stuck to his main thesis well. Have to admire that. In the long run, more cars will burn, but I think he leaves a greater chance of repproachement.

Yet we have a R guv, and an R senator.

I think most of the sheep vote for personality, and the appearance of honor, and the deservedness of trust.

I once had a sock called, "Le Pen is mightier than the Sword" or something like that, but you are correct, I don't like Le Pen. Frankly, I can't think of a French politician in the history of history that I like much. After the wine and cheese it's a quick plummet down hill for me and the french.

DA question: Is it racist to suggest that an insular society might be damaged by free immigration? Is it racist to suggest that Europe needs to limit immigration from North African Islamic societys, on the basis that these societys share so few common grounds with your own group that they cannot, and never will, mix well? Do you owe any opportunity to those outside of your state who are seeking to enter but who will, you suspect, impact your society negatively?

Is it morally okay to say, we know what these people believe and we just don't like them?

doesn't race have to have some immutable characteristic about it? Isn't religion a choice? (except of course for the radical-moderate Islamic religion, the adherents of which do not want to give the rest of us a choice, other than Allah or death)
