That is an excellent point, but it doesn't have much to do with the photos that we were discussing. That's our point.

There is only one Republican in the race too, and Joe won't be getting party money from them either.

We shall see who is stupid, but he is in a left-leaning state, and will be trumpetting his progressive credential to try to get elected, so I wouldn't bet on him switching parties if he wins.

I am fairly sure that neither the photographer nor the news media were using those particular images to make that point.

I almost wrote "Square is the new hip." Yikes.

If you were fishing for that, congrats. Ya almost got me.

I don't believe Michael Moore considers himself a Democrat, but I suppose you are more familiar with the man and his ouevre than anyone else here.
Need we repost the shot of him at the DNC sitting next to Carter as his personal guest.

Are you deliberately being as obtuse as Patentpara?

My, my, but how you compartmentalize and generalize...

Is that he's a TV exec supposed to give him some Big Biz cred I should defer to, being the nasty GOP-leaning Libertarian I am? Or is it meant to imply he's in such a cutting edge industry, he couldn't be anything but understated and droll?

Would it shock you if I told you television is not a repository of high IQs? Would you gasp if you were to learn running a successful business and being a bleeding heart aren't mutually exclusive?

I've listened to the man and I find him shrill and naive. I applaud the grass roots effort's success. It's an example of our system's brilliance. Sadly, this is the wrong example, at the wrong time, lauded by people without the eyes or experience to realize they're winning the sort of battle which will ultimately lead them to lose the war.

[pssst.... Sebby] I think Ty meant that OF COURSE he's shrill -- he's a cable-TV exec. Not that cable-TV execs were Nobel Prize-winners in flashier clothes. Maybe you oughtta get some sleep.[/pssst.... Sebby]

Regardless of where you stand on the issues, your dismissal of Lamont as shrill -- you do realize the guy is a cable-TV executive, right? -- and his supporters and whackjobs is about the squarest thing anyone has said on this board in months and months. You sound positively Broderesque. Really, if anyone comes over here from the FB you're going to lose your cynical hipster credibility. But don't worry -- we won't tell. Still, time for some soul-searching -- you're too young to sound this old.

Martin Peretz, a fairly solid card carrying liberal had this to say about Lamont in a WSJ Op-Ed:

ow Mr. Lamont's views are also not camouflaged. They are just simpleminded. Here, for instance, is his take on what should be done about Iran's nuclear-weapons venture: "We should work diplomatically and aggressively to give them reasons why they don't need to build a bomb, to give them incentives. We have to engage in very aggressive diplomacy. I'd like to bring in allies when we can. I'd like to use carrots as well as sticks to see if we can change the nature of the debate." Oh, I see. He thinks the problem is that they do not understand, and so we should explain things to them, and then they will do the right thing. It is a fortunate world that Mr. Lamont lives in, but it is not the real one. Anyway, this sort of plying is precisely what has been going on for years, and to no good effect. Mr. Lamont continues that "Lieberman is the one who keeps talking about keeping the military option on the table." And what is so plainly wrong with that? Would Mahmoud Ahmadinejad be more agreeable if he thought that we had disposed of the military option in favor of more country club behavior?

He's a dilettante and a smug ignorant elitist. I pray for Lieberman's victoury. Send this buffoon back to his country club and rarified airs in Greenwich. It's sad that the democrat party is filled with such divisive classists such as this guy.

My specific recollection is that he said he wasn't a Democrat when he went to the DNC. But you obviously follow the man much more closely than I do.

Get that weak-ass shit out of here. Don't come all Spud Webb-like down the lane and think you can just lay it in the bucket with Dikembe Mutombo standing there.

Martin Peretz is many things, but he is in no way representative of liberals or the Democratic Party.

I didn't say that it was my concern. And I kind of thought that reporting the news was kind of about reporting the news and not kind of about creating it.

Hi! Just stopping by to see whether we've won the war in Iraq yet. And that other place . . . Ashcanland or something . . . we won that, too, right? All sorted over there by now, I'm sure. Any others I might have missed?

Gotta go, but keep supporting the troops and God Bless George W. Bush!
