More Republicans courageously thwarting vote fraud.

No one who's been watching this race thinks turn-out might be, say, higher than recent elections, eh?
  • Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker, citing vote-fraud concerns, is publicly balking at a City of Milwaukee request for almost 260,000 additional ballots in anticipation of high turnout for the Nov. 2 presidential election.

Mayor Tom Barrett blasted Walker's stance, and Common Council President Willie Hines Jr. immediately joined in, saying it was an attempt to suppress the central-city vote.

"I'm going to lay this at the footsteps of the county if there aren't enough ballots in the city," said Barrett.

Barrett said that the 679,000 ballots the county had agreed to print were less than the amount prepared for the presidential election in 2000 as well as for the the gubernatorial race in 2002. He and the city's top election official said that the city requested 938,000 ballots from the county, which, by law, pays for and prints ballots.

Your forgot to add this, Ty:

"In a letter sent to City Elections chief Lisa Artison, Walker said that he had "serious questions" about the need for that many ballots [938,000] when the city reported having 382,000 registered voters in September."

The total population in Milwaukee: 596,974 in 2000 and 593,920 in 2004

The total number of people who are of legal voting age in Milwaukee in 2004: 423,811

Total votes cast in 2000 fall election: 245,670

Total votes cast in 2002 fall election: 141,351 (pre-registration of 335,889)

So tell me - with a straight face if you can - why the city would need 514,189 more ballots than there are voting-age citizens?

Interesting.

Also interesting that from the article, it sounds like:

2000 election -- the county printed about 1.3 million ballots for the city.
2004 -- city asks for much less than that -- 938k.
2004 -- County decides to cut that lower, requested amount by another 300k. Why the fuck would they do that?

Something's going on that these articles aren't telling us.

Yes, I am certain there is a genetic component. It isn't simple mendelian genetics and environment can influence the probability that the genetic propensity will be expressed. The twin studies and the adoption studies all show that drug/alcohol abuse/addiction show a pattern of expression that is consistent with a genetic etiology influenced some by environment.

I think you whiffed. Ty can be hard to read, but I think what he was referring to is the effort by the Kerry campaign to thwart the inalienable rights of Nader supporters to vote for their guy. I mean if you are talking about screwing with the public's right to vote, the Nader crap dwarfs everything you're talking about.

You mock, but I've been following O'Reilly's litigation strategies for a while now. See that aggressive suit he filed against the girl hours earlier to fight off the "shakedown attempt?" I'm not ready to dismiss his assessment of legal claims just yet.

No. Do you not see how our sanctioning, and encouraging sanctioning of, Iraq has already caused harm to the people there and why we might have a responsibility there that is more direct than that of say, Chad? And why would we attack Indonesia? Their human rights record isn't very good but we have a good working relationship with their newly elected President. A far cry from the hopelessness of dealing with Saddam Hussein.

The only thing you have contributed to this discussion is typing out the names of lots of third world countries in the hopes that this whole "global thing" will seem so "complicated" thereby hiding the fact that you are in fact a pussy.

You mean while the men are off fighting to defend life and liberty? I suppose we'll have whiny little fucks like you there to protect us. Oh the Humanity!!

Hell, you're flummoxed at everything. That old avatar of you as the fat little boy was perfect. Buck up, young man!
I might respond in depth to this post if it had anything to do with the substance of your prior post. You know, the one I was responding to. The one where you said you were sick of us liberal pussies not being willing to tackle all the oppressors and genocidal maniacs all over the globe?

You can't even keep track of your own delusional rambling, so I certainly can't expect you to keep up with me or anyone else on the board. We weren't discussing Iraq and sanctions, you stupid cunt. Bilmore and I were talking about genocide, and its alarming presence in so many parts of the world.

If you can't keep up, the go lie down in the corner and wait until the voices in your head have reduced themselves to one.
