The problem is your generalizations are broader than even Sebby's foul truths.
If you stay four-five years at a firm, then moving means you've been asked to move, because they don't want to waste time with you on the partnership track.
If you wait 6-7 years, well, then it's because you were definitely passed over for partner.
And if you're leaving as a partner, it's assuredly because you were ass-fucking the wrong paralegal.
So, no matter what, regardless of what firm you're leaving you must be a sorry-ass retread in your book.
Yet, oddly, plenty of firms are making the same mistake again and again. Curious how they stay in business.
And don't even begin to speculate how companies hiring these worn-out retreads for inside positions manage to survive. The government, of course, is easy to explain.
