I think history plays a pretty large role, too. Some schools have had decades to build a good program in one sport or the other, so when smaller schools make choices about where to invest their athletic department money, they go for where their reputation is strongest.

That said, I'm sort of surprised that Rice hasn't torn down the football stadium and replaced it with a much nicer baseball stadium.

If anyone's NOT done for the day . . .

The best eye-twitch cure is to get a really really good night's sleep. Massage, yoga, meditation, Tazo Calm, and then to bed by 10.

Though orgasms in the not-low double-digits might also help.

Sorry, my bad. In my own personal scenario, the massage is usually provided by my husband. So for fringe's purposes, I should have specified that any massage should include a "happy ending."

Indeed, that would knock anyone out cold.

I'm less lazy. That southern school, UT, is most profitable. But I'm not sure where this all goes. I'm actually surprised they make a profit, because I figured they would hide the profits in the form of "expenses", such as cash-stuffed envelopes and luxurious practice facilities. Presumably since the figures are reported to the government, though, they have to be honest.
Last year, a conference that I was attending in Austin had scheduled dinner at the Texas Club, which is a very nice facility inside the stadium. There was a lot of last minute scrambling for a new venue when about 36 hours before the dinner, the team announced that they wanted to use the Club. What the team wants in Austin, generally the team gets. 85 or so of us were quickly relocated to the first floor dining rooms in the stadium. They were nice, but not nearly as nice as the Club.

So I recently found myself outside a fashionable pre-school in a fashionable (though tasteful) neighborhood of Manhattan. It was a beautiful afternoon so I sat for a while and watched the women (I didn't see any men) pick up their children. It really struck me how diverse and fashion-forward New York is, or at least I think it is compared to the rest of the country. Has anyone else noticed the trend of Central and South American and African American women adopting Jewish kids?

That seems like the type of hypothesis that desperately needs testing.

So you're saying most people think the Cowboys are a cool team despite Jerry Jones? (And I won't even force them to say they like the team despite Jerry Jones and Bill Parcells.)
I don't like the current Cowboys, but I really liked this guy.

Oh, and I had a thing for Troy Aikman. Who never never ever took his shirt off. He must be horribly deformed.
