My brother-in-law was straight for 12 years before he died of liver cancer. He'd always been obsessive about music, even when he was using. After going straight, though, he became even more so. He couldn't buy one Nirvana disc. He had to buy the entire catalog, surf the web for downloads and bootlegs, and catalog it meticulously.

His other big replacement addiction was hot food. This was a guy whose idea of a snack was a plate of pickled habaneros. He had an Indian restaurant he went to all the time because the cook/owner would make him a vindaloo so hot the cook had to wear a mask to avoid breathing in the fumes.

Make your own biscuits or buy Pillsbury and order a Smithfield premium cooked country ham. Get the bone-in, salt cured ham and keep in a cool dark place. It should keep for a long time. If you are a normal person and don't consume ham by the pound at a sitting, cut the ham into usable hunks, double wrap in foil and freeze for up to a year or more.

What the FUCK is wrong with you people? I do not eat bacon, egg and cheese biscuits. I eat sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. Which are not on the menu, but which they will make for you.

Ty, I highly recommend subbing in sausage, just to try, if you are in the market for a McD's breakfast again any time soon.

And imagine the complications if you want egg, too. not always so easy to get the egg to cook in a size that fits right on the biscuit. Yes, wanker, I am sure you have handy-dandy egg molds. I don't care. It's still a pain in the ass.

Pillsbury (do they still brand them as Pillsbury? It's all General Mills now, corporate-wise) biscuits?! surely you jest. No, they must be made by hand (and by the way, the world's best chicken pot pie - my mother's - is made with biscuits on top - no nasty crusty things).

And mmmm, Smithfield hams are the best. Three's a mail-order company that has outstanding hams, too - is it Burgers Smokehouse? I think so. You can get everything from "city ham" to the driest, saltiest stuff you can imagine.

Did y'all know Cascadian Farms is owned by General Mills? I believe PLF and I had this whole discussion one day on the other board. Cascadian Farms is a big organic clearing house outfit. However, I am pleased they have the organic version of honey nut cheerios.

Notwithstanding my curiosity about the whole McGriddles phenomenom, that was next on my list, and my arteries are scheduled to receive their next infusion of McDonalds' grease in four months or so, depending on the decadence of my holiday season. I have a red-wine IV drip set up in my office to help me cope with this morning's breakfast.

If you had asked ahead of time, str8 and I would both have urged you to go with the sausage ahead of the bacon. The bacon is too insubstantial when faced with the egg and cheese and biscuit.

That said, I don't order bacon that often; generally, I favor the substantial sausage.

AoN, today I was craving grease so with my egg whites I ordered sausage and although it initially looked great, I was sorely disappointed with the a.) texture and b.) flavor. I much prefer bacon. The bacon today looked fatty though. That was a turn off.
