Islamofacists

The nattering nabobs of no-nothingness who desecrate this board with their faux centrist chatter border on treason by indulging in the phallacy that the Islamofacists are anything other than homocidal monsters. These rabid animals who strap on bombs and kill innocents for media publicity are dangerous cancerous deluded cultist misfits. Marching locked in a modern day goosestep as a thuggish pack unintelligent sociopathic maniacal drone followers of an alcoholic pedophile who worships violence, murder and hatred for America, its Patriots and Freedom. This Is-lame that they profess is not a religion but a cult breeding a perversely terroristic hatred in its path while glorifying the oppression of women, the buggery of young boys, marriage to 5 year olds, ritualistic beheadings, infidelicide, and a submit or die ethic more worthy of wild kingdom than civilized society.

Commander-in-Chief George W. Bush said it best when he proclaimed, “you are either with us or against us in the crusade against radical Islam”

Here's an example of the type of fellow centrist the left of this board and the blew states defend:

God will destroy America by the hands of the Muslims....God will not give Japan or Europe the honor of bringing down the United States; this is an honor God will bestow upon Muslims." –Louie Fraudakhan

CHRIST. If only I had that secret service guy's pop-out baton, I'd sodomize you with it and then shove it down your throat, in hopes that the unpleasant experience of spewing real crap would keep you from spewing that kind of crap.

You might want to either work on a sense of humor, or put that telescoping baton to a better -- though less scatologically graphic -- personal use. (Those telescoping batons aren't well suited for that, though -- they're necessarily rather slender.)

Wrong board, dude, take it to the FB.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I prefer things that vibrate and are designed for that use. And have a couple. Anyway, STP, I was just making him feel at home.

I'm betting on that Boeing thing that they are using this as a reason to have him "resign" rather that something else in the background or whatever. Whether or not that is the case, you may not be aware, but Boeing's been having some "ethics" "problems" and apparently put in some new "code" of "conduct" in response to those "problems" and the CEO's behavior apparently expressly violated the new code, which is kind of a "PR" "disaster" when you are trying to convince people that really, you aren't an unethical company, and the improper relationship with the government procurement officer was just an aberration.

That said, I could give a shit that he had an affair, but it was stupid of him to approve the ethical code that made this verboten, or to engage in the behavior prohibited under the new ethical code he had approved.

Well, I was really only kidding with the "fake but accurate" response, but I will add here that the "homicide bomber" thingie wasn't so much an attempt to marginalize the suicide aspect of it, but to re-remind of the more important presence of the victims of such acts. To control the language is to control the thought, right? Yeah, they're suicide bombers, but that seems to equate it with a straight suicide - a burning bonze making a statement - whereas these suicides tend to also involve ten or fifty or one hundred twenty-four rather involuntary participants. It's without much substance, of course, but since when does that disqualify political effort?

(ETA - or, I could just wait for BRC to post.)
I don't really think that anybody living in today's world is going to forget the innocent passersby getting blown up by suicide bombers. Nor did the neocon strategists who dreamt up the "homicide bomber" tag.

And I'll accept BRC's suggested edit vis a vis "victim."

What was the bombers main goal- kill himself or take out the mom and her kids? I don't think suicide describes the guy's main motivation. The word describes the bomber not the act.
Dissent. I believe that the self-sacrifice aspect of the bombing is equally important, if not more so.

I had a good friend who committed suicide- he did it in his dad's garage. Only he died.
That means he's not a martyr. It doesn't make him a suicide bomber. Unless his chosen method was a bomb.

Quote:

As to the other points-

emphasizing it's "suicide" doesn't reenforce it's wrong from a religious standpoint, when the bomber thinks God has a place for him in paradise.

Of course the main problem is how much the guy's willingness to blow himself up makes it tough to stop him. But people realize that with either name.

Both terms are poor choices, but homocide isn't worse.
I wasn't making a value choice per se over which term is more accurate from a language standpoint. My criticism is that the adoption of the term "homicide bomber" was a cynical attempt by the neocons to marginalize the bomber. As you yourself point out immediately above, this is a mistake both linguistically and strategically. "The guy's willingness to blow himself up," and become a martyr to his cause is what makes these particular terrorists so fucking dangerous.

The "your party" comment wasn't meant in the sense of "youse guyz", but in the generic "the party of the person doing the imagining" sense. I reread this after posting, and realized it could be read that way, but I was too lazy to edit. See what it gets me?

Whether or not that is the case, you may not be aware, but Clinton had been having some "legal" "problems" related to inappropriate sexual conduct with subordinates and apparently was being sued in response to those "problems" and his behavior apparently was relevant to those lawsuits, which is kind of a "PR" "disaster" when you are trying to convince people that really, you aren't an unethical sexual harrasser, and the improper relationship with Paula Jones (and Juanita Broderick et al) was just a bunch of lies.

That said, I could give a shit that he had an affair, but it was stupid of him to lie under oath when his profession's ethical code and the law makes this verboten, or to continue to engage in the behavior which had resulted in the then on-going legal proceedings.

Bono, crooning his way to third world debt

The Guardian reports that Bono may become the next president of the World Bank. See what a tour with Paul O'Neill in Africa will get you?

Upside: Summer afternoon concerts on H Street.

Downside: Anyone with an afternoon commute within 45 blocks of H Street.

FWIW, they're consideing Bono for the wrong agency anyway. Clearly, it should be the IAEA.
