If you dwell you make yourself nuts.
Thank you, Dr. Phil. I will learn to follow your example and not dwell on things for two minutes. Rather, I will learn to move forward after 18,364 posts on the subject, so I will be over this little thing that made me sad for two minutes in about three weeks.

You may come, but no kids, no wife, and we should have separate rooms.

The brie was melted and drizzled with honey and served with apple slices.

I also ate a grilled (rare) ribeye, drank a glass of champagne and a glass of a cab/syrah from Chile, and had carrot cake for dessert.
Oh. My. God. (sureptiously wiping drool from my chin)

All of that sounds really good right now, except the ribeye, since I don't eat anything that walked on 4 legs. I have had a Balance Bar and a handful of goldfish crackers today. It's been that kind of day. I'll probably get some leftover pizza this evening, if the babysitter is kind to me. It's going to be that kind of night too.

You may be looking for something classier than a Best Western, but it usually works for me.

eta: There are two Best Westerns in Pismo Beach, and I may have been at the other one, the Shelter Cove Lodge.
Plus, I see on the webpage that it has this:

Equals no-brainer, Ty. Good job.

How come nobody here's talking like a pirate today?

Or put another way:

Aarrrrrrr, would one of ye kindly tell me how is it that none of ye landlubbers is speaking all proper-like, on this most joyous of days?

Happy TLPD everyone.

Do you eat bunnies? Monkeys? Lobsters and crabs and spiders?

If I had a webcam, you could see the puffy shirt I am wearing in honor of the occasion.

I think in Animal Farm the pigs eventually walked on just their hind legs.

In their defense, I imagine that they simply close their office door.

I forgot my costume, so I'm covering one of my eyes whenever I talk to people.

Well, if you're going to be within walking distance of Solvang, then you simply must go to Solvang. It's a lot like Leavenworth (Washington, not the prison), in that it's a little Scandinavian town with lots of Scandinavian pastries and stuff.

And if you you're going to be there, there's the Hitching Post in Buellton, which is not far from Solvang. The Hitching Post was in the movie Sideways. The atmosphere is not much and you get an actual relish tray before dinner (carrots, celery, olives, salami and crackers). The bread pudding (and I hate bread pudding) is amazing. It has this Jack Daniels sauce they put on top that is to die for. The ribs kicked ass and so did the other dinner that I can't remember what it was now. Their Hitching Post pinot noir is really very very good.

I will drive all the way to Pismo from my place.

ETA did the rooms smell musty, like beach places so often do? I think it's a humidity thing. Maybe I should bring some nice candles just in case.

EATA, what is TPLD or whatever?
