BTW, what's the proper yiddish response to mazel tov? That's driven me nuts. I used to know a bunch of yiddish and use it, but that's one I never learned.

Exaclty, that is why we could use it b/c people thought we were oddly calling them fishes instead of grunty minions.

If you go to your control panel, there are three style choices. Default (the purple/blue style), ravio blue (which is more firmly in the blue territory), and ravio orange (which only my dogs would suggest is anywhere near blue).

I go with ravio blue just to remind myself that I'm logged in. If I see purple, I know that I'm not logged in.

I would like to pause to note that this has become one of the most sickeningly overused phrases of late. What, really, does it mean? Is it a "bottom line"? Is it "net, net, net"? Is it "cut to the chase"? It is "like", "um" or "er"? It's 6 words that add nothing to anything.

It is all the more objectionable that it seems to have derived from consultants. If there is a group of people who contribute less to the overall benefit of society than lawyers, it surely is consultants. So far as I can tell, consultants are the people who could not pass a legal writing class, because they write only in cliches. Yet they make money because they manage to smile and convince people that the bullshit exiting their mouths actually contributes to the corporate bottom line. They have, despite their regular vapidity, managed to persuade companies to part with significant sums of money in exchange for the same tired advice. Do lawyers do the same thing? Sometimes. But at least corporate lawyers fill the role of helping to create value through implementing corporate strategy, and litigators are merely protecting corporate value from the leaches like Pony. Even paralegals contribute value to this effort.

BTW, if you're a consultant: suck it. It's friday.

I use ravio orange for my primaries.

I used ravio blue for my socks.

One way I have avoided any major fuckups over the years.

My little miss fritos feet, who hadn't been mine for 2 years, passed on last month, two days before her 13th birthday. I was informed after the fact, even though she had been sick for a few days.

(This is not the puppy in the basket, although she isn't in my custody anymore either.)

I'm really sorry to hear that. I've lived apart from a beloved dog before and not being there when she went sucked terribly. When I got word of it, I took a day off work and the Displaced Dog and I drove up to Tahoe and played in the snow for an afternoon in her honor. She would have told us we were doing it wrong and showed us the right way to dig in the snow.

The DD will be 14 in October. He's under strict orders not to pass on any time soon unless it's with me in a firey crash. So far he's taking those orders to heart.

Does he refuse to get in the car with you? Because that would help his survival rate.

Now that I have caught up and I see that y'all are here too, two things:

(1) I like that ppnyc had to mention her IQ twice before she could get someone else to react to it and thereby acknowledge how smart she is.

(2) My wife concedes that it's blue in that photo, but maintains that when you see the wall in person, it's purple. Needless to say, I disagree. If anyone wants to take a field trip to the pediatrician's office to case the tiebreaker, please PM me.

So of course, we've managed to con each other into seeing a movie that will scare the ever loving shit out of us.

To gear up for the movie we're going to the snake house at the zoo and then we'll head to the multiplex on Sunday. Of course, we're inviting all of our friends.

I don't know if anyone's left in Houston, but if you wanna watch us clinging on to each other for dear life, lemme know and I'll send you the eVite.
Bring someone along to shoot video for me?

AON- I went to visit a client in Asheville NC. the company had relocated from Mi. Anyway we went golfing and these guys were telling stories of seeing Mocassins in the ponds, having rattle snakes cross the cart path in front of them and all over the woods. Why would you golf in the south? I didn't even try to find any balls in the woods.
I suggest you avoid the Low Country and Texas, then. In addition to snakes, the water hazards frequently have gators.

I remember thr first tiime I played with my Dad in Hilton Head. I put a ball in the creek on the third fairway and as I started to dig for my ball retriever, Dad told me not to bother. He swung the cart by the creek, and sure enough, resting ina nice little hollow in the bank, there was a big-ass gator, just waiting for some dumb-ass yankee like me to come along for lunch.
