. . .and the damn fool kept yelling "push on!"

(1) That's right, Ahmed, have another bite of that halal chicken on pita -- pretty soon the guy in the bodega will laugh at you and call you an infidel when you ask for a package of Oscar Meyer bacon. (2) Hey, if the Yankees win tonight and the Sox lose, does that mean we won't be tied with the Devil Rays? or (3) I knew that left-wing Podunk bastard couldn't bring up Pete Seeger without posting something from that fucking song. |

In the spirit of bi-partisanshipism, I find it sad and pathetic, when the either the left or the right attempt to exploit our fallen heroes for cheap political messenging, as Ty is obviously doing here. Interesting that Ty only posts the pictures, obviously in order to evoke a leftist sentiment, but leaves out the words of this hero's family: Though Regan died in combat,, his family's support for the Iraq war remains strong. Criticism of it, either in the media or by politicians, serves to undermine the effort, said Regan's father, who is also named James Regan. "What is written in the papers and what is being politicized out there by our candidates is undermining our service," said James Regan, a senior vice president at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, a Manhattan financial services investment bank. "These gentlemen that are out there are mission-focused," he said of the troops. "They're trying to do the best job they possibly can. There have been mistakes made, why even list them? ... You cannot put men in the field of battle and then change your mind and go out as a whip-dog. Let the men do their job." cite here: http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/jjregan.htm Indeed Ty, GGG, Ironwuss et al. Let the men do their jobs whilst you boys clam up. America, love it or leave it! Bi-partisanly, of course. |

Do you take all photographs of military cemetaries or grieving loved ones as a political, anti-war message? Could they not equally be and should you not view them instead as a reminder of the great cost too many of our brothers and sisters have had to pay in service to our country? What do you think Memorial Day is all about? Bi-partisanly speaking, and of course not referring to you, I've noticed that too many on the right over the past few years have seemed to hide from acknowledging the cost of this war and WAR in general, in anything other than a fuzzy, soft, cliche-ridden terms. The administration bars photography of coffins arriving at Dover, et al. from overseas for just this reason. Regardless of your position on the War . . . Look at the graves, look at the tears. Don't shrink from them or avert your eyes. Acknowledge the cost of the policies you support and respect those who pay that price -- none of whom post here. Stand up to it, and, if you are so inclined, justify it. Don't you dare criticize people for highlighting the tragic cost of war. S_A_M |
