Bartender at my cool local watering hole/restaurant. He's got piercings everywhere, including between his two front teeth.

He's also a performance artist who uses his body as a canvas. He inserts metal rods in his back by threading them through his skin, and on occassion he will be suspended by a hook, also through his skin. The rods, once you get past the fact that they're attached to his skin, are actually beautiful in a grotesque sort of way. If you don't know how they're attached to his skin, you'd probably think they looked pretty cool. His performance troupe went to Paris last year to perform during a film festival.

He is a great bartender at a very popular place. He makes fairly good money, and his lifestyle is such that he can take off for a month or two (like right now) and hang out in Europe without impacting his life too much.

Extra emphasis on the disturbing part. I've got a pretty strong stomach, and I'm feeling a bit quesey. The non-surgical stuff is about as bad as the surgical. Scrotal implants? Saline injection. Fuck.

Ack, I'm really getting quesy. What is this Freak Show Day? My real comment is, is that self mutilation/piercing has been going on for centuries. Remember the first time you saw a National Geographic and thought - who in the hell would put a plate in their lip? Who would stretch their ears like that (other than white teenage boys)? Now I know what you're thinking - I've gone and given a bright idea to some freak who's going to put ever expanding plates in their lips. Anyone got a website for that?:eek2:
