At the same time as Bush put forward his freedom car initiative, he phased out the tax deduction for buying a hybrid and increased the deduction for small business owners buying an SUV.

While I understand that you and I may have an honest disagreement on how cynical it is to pump money to domestic automakers who are are performing this research at the same time those automakers are spending a great deal of money to lobby for looser emissions requirements, I think saying that this admin has anything to do with hybrid cars, besides discouraging them, is kind of laughable. It's like saying Clinton had something to do with the boom economy of the 90s....oh wait....

In Bush's next speech on his sincere desire to foster the shining light of democracy around the world (sorta, when we can) but especially in the Middle East, perhaps he can explain the administration's recent plan to funnel money to fund the campaigns of the Iraqi candidates it favored.

The plan apparently got submarined by Congress, which was appalled at the thought that an occupying country who professes to encourage the populace to select their own leaders might influence the election by funding the campaigns of its preferred candidates.

Naturally, these leaders, if elected, would not be deemed "puppets."
