Why don't you go to one of the dem/rep pep rallies they'll be holding in your neighborhood. I'm sure you can pick up a hot young thing that's been drinking to celebrate the early returns. Or console some poor schlep on the losing team. This guy appears to be trying to cop a feel from his buddy. http://www.farnortheast.com/GBGROUP.gif |

Also -- brown is rather fetching with black -- although I rather like gray as well, but more because I'm sick of black. |

This year, I went with brown as a "neutral" because I'm downright sick of black and, since I am a blonde, grey washes me out. I spent a little too much on the perfect brown suede skirt, a brown sweater with rhinestone buttons and a little fur collar, a lighter brown mini skirt and a jacket that plays of the lighter brown with butter soft leather trim. I mixed in a little pink, fuscia, cream and pale mint green. I found the perfect silk satin blouse so I bought two of them in soft colors. A girl can never have too many beautiful bags and scarves and I typically spend more on accessories than I do on clothes. And a couple of those indestructible St. John's suits are a must for going to court and taking "depositions". The most important thing about clothes is buying what fits well and then spending the money on alterations so that things fit perfectly. I am a huge fan of anything that hugs curves without being too tight or showing too much skin. If anybody knows where to get the perfect cashmere sweater dress, I'd love to have one. |

Navy and brown is awesome; it looks chic without looking as though you're trying too hard. I will say, however, that black shoes are better with navy trousers/skirt, unless you're wearing them with brown, in which case, I'd go with brown-toned shoes. But if you are (or, as is the case today, I am) wearing navy trousers with a color other than brown (I'm wearing a "military-ish" green shirt and slightly darker shade of military green cardigan), you should go with black shoes -- it is a truth universally acknowledged that blue shoes are dorky -- or you run the risk of too many colors. ETA: I also concur with whoever said brown is a good neutral. I think it's probably the best neutral. I bought these dark brown pants that are freakin' awesome. They look awesome with a violet sweater, with a burgundy blouse and a gray cardigan, with this tie-dye kind of sweater... basically with everything. I should have bought another pair. Hmmmm. Gotta make a phone call. |

I still hate the 3* and 4 button suits. Hart, Schaffner & Marx (or Brooks Brothers -- unlike others here, I've never had a quality problem with them, and I don't think that I look like I'm wearing a sack when I wear one) is still where it's at. In navy or a sober grey, naturally. What kind of grey? Any shade so long as it's dark. I've started easing into a spread collar and the occasional textured blue shirt, but if I'm seeing a judge, a jury, or a new client, it's a white shirt with button cuffs. I sport the occasional french cuffs when seeing a particular client, who loves my rag mop cufflinks (she gave them to me after I won a big slip and fall case for her father's hotel). Shoewise, I just picked up another pair of Allen Edmunds "Park Avenue" in black after learning that their recrafters couldn't do anything to the previous pair. ("Sometimes you just have to say goodbye, sir.") My cravat? A Brooks Brothers tie, bien sur. Apropos of nothing, their stain guard version costs more, and doesn't really seem to effectively guard against my ability to spill marinara sauce. *Not the classic 3 button suits, but the new style ones -- BRC knows what I mean. |
