Most of the episode was anticlimactic. The scene at the stadium, Marie's lame threat, the VP/Pres reversal, Palmer's forgiveness, Mike's termination, etc. were all kind of rote. Even the very last scene was totally predictable. The only moment I really loved was when Kim held Jack's hand and he had this little smile on his face. It was very subtle and said so much. I think Kiefer should win an Emmy.

Actually, I was hoping that when Jack held out his hand and said "K" that he would finish by saying "Kate."

This would be slightly absurd and unsentimental. Besides, Jack really deserves to get laid.

Joss told Slate that they didn't want to choose which characters to spin off too soon or based solely on which actors had empty dancecards. Giving every potential slayer the power is actually a pretty cool idea for a high-budget spin off. Xander, Willow and/or (ick) Dawn and Andrew can travel the globe, finding them all in exotic places and gathering them unto a new, hipper Watcher's Council. I wonder whether they'll modify the Angel mythology to accomodate this. Of course, I would have been happier if Anya had lived to be with them, 'cause Andrew is a poor substitute. Or they could just have a spin-off in which Faith takes another slice of Principal Wood's schnitzengruben.

Leaving aside his acting ability, Kiefer has become very hot. When he was younger (i.e. jilted-by-Julia Roberts days) he was never this attractive. Maybe it is the whole "weary man of action" thing he has going on these days.

Nobody expects anything from me.” I think she's wrong here - if no one expected anything, no one would care that she's there.

And this is my favorite... “It’s funny. Suddenly, everybody is an expert on my game and how I think,” she said. “And some of them have never seen me play.”

When I saw the interview last night - she seems genuinely surprised at the Total Amount of Attention she is getting. I think she expected a circus, but not the Sigfried and Roy/Michael Jackson levels of attention.

And putting her with a couple of rookies who seem to like her was great. Wilson wore a “Go Annika” button that is being sold for $3 in the pro shop at Colonial, although he won’t wear it when the tournament starts. He has watched Sorenstam play, and has no qualms with her spot in the field, or his place in her group.
“It’s exciting; it’s history,” he said. “And it’s a privilege to be part of it.” At least he knows he's part of "her" group.

Outdated Humor
 

ABC told David Kelley that it would either be cancelled, or renewed at half the per-episode fee it was earning this year. When they chose renewal, Kelley decided to give ABC "the show they were paying for, and nothing more," or words to that effect.

The problem is that ABC is a distant fourth in the ratings and there's not enough money to go around. I expect Practice to get cancelled midseason next year. They didn't help matters by moving it from Sunday to Monday this year (though arguably it was a dying show anyway).

More proof that ABC is being run by a bunch of Chunderheads.
