i did not invent this phrase but I certainly popularized it with the newbers. The history of the phrase is as follows: Multo invented it with a sock that was named for whichever hooker blew Hugh Grant. I had a sock workting with that sock and she said "off my corner ho". I don't remember what sock it was at the time, perhaps MaryCheney, but who can remember? In any event, it was an old skool reference that the newbers seized without knowing the context. I apologize as I concur its gone the way of tthe Mojito. Once the massses pick it up, it is so over.

You need to stop living in the past.

I thought Mary Cheney was/is a lesbian.

When you start obsessing about the board's tacit expectations of you, it's time to retire.

Why not? Do you think Jesus is a gay? I understand that he loves me and a few other women so he is at most a bi.

Shouldn't you be tossing the bagels at SS's shaft?

Apropos of something, this exchange reminds me of that Happy Days episode when the Fonz, Potsie, and assorted others are locked in a storeroom at Arnold's.

Mister Fonzarelli instructs Postsie to sing and play something "cheery" on his guitar so that the group does not become too distraught over their plight. Potsie starts singing, "forget your troubles, get ready for the Judgment Day."

The Fonz grabs Potsie's guitar, stopping the song. He snarls "excuse me, the Judgment Day is not cheery" to Potsie, and the laugh track giggles.

When you start mistaking offhand comments for obsession, I think it is time to drop the world-weary drifter act, lose the Waits avatar, and retire the whole humor-so-dry-I-get-parched-just-reading-it schtick.

In other words, and apropos of nothing, off my corner ho, sts, ymmv, nttawwt.

I miss Penske. <sniff>

When accused of ruffled gayness, I thought the idea was for the ho to stay on the corner.

I love breakfast. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. However, I have not been out to breakfast in several months. Perhaps that is the source of recent bitterness. I like it alone, I like it with people I like, I don't like it with people I don't like, I don't like it with people who have a strict rule against reading the paper (or anything else, for that matter) at the table. I HATE IT when it is a business meeting because you can't enjoy it at all, and I feel compelled to get the fruit and bullshit carry-able food even though I'm at a RESTAURANT where I could get pancakes and waffles and french toast and egg scrambles and stuff.

and, of course, mmmmmmm, breakfast.
Hey, Ho, you can come hang around my greasy spoon. Let's put some whipped cream and cherries on the belgian waffles.

I live for breakfast. I have travelled the world just to experience breakfast in different countries (which means I ate raw squid in Thailand along with my melon, but that's for another day; at least it came with toast). But nothing at all tastes better than:

Back End Bacon.**

Back end bacon truly incentivizes me.

Question for fellow NY'ers: I need a fun brunch place for a weekend out of towner - like a fun jazz (preferably soul) brunch. Ideas?

Fuck, I have the early evening hungries wicked bad. Ketone breath and EVERYTHING.

**ETA - I don't know if this is the right term. It might be "front end bacon". It's a Southern thing and it's a really fatty piece of ass of the pig. Or it might be the jowls. Mnnnn. Pig.
