The short answer is that Americans don't read books, and any movie adaptation that kills Ashley Judd in the first fifteen minutes, yet leaves Oliver Platt standing, can never become beloved of the American people.

Don't you find, particularly after any amount of time on the internet, that all that dialogue in caps is ANNOYING?

She looks pretty good having completed 2/3 of the "horrible horseshoe" or whatever they're calling this stretch of difficult holes. She just missed a birdy putt on the par 3 4th. Now it's onto the 5th, which is where she made her first bogey yesterday.

bad tee shot on the 5th. only went 192 yards into the rough, which is bad since this is a long par 4. she's got 269 left to the green. looks like she may bogey this, unless she has a killer up and down.

A LITTLE. But I think the reader needs to be reminded that his voice is EXTREMELY ANNOYING. When I read it, Martin's voice from the Simpsons runs through my head, except more annoying.

It's too bad her putting has been so crappy thus far. She had many birdie opportunities go by the board, although I can certainly understand her reluctance to press too hard. My guess is she'd rather not risk finishing last by charging too hard.

It looks pretty clear that she's not going to finish 30 shots off the lead or whatever TM's prediction was.

And not as annoyed as I was by Dean Moriarty when I was rereading "On the Road"...

damn, she's falling apart on the 5th. could be a double bogey.

edit: thank god. she holed a 15 footer to save bogey.

High Fidelity was a good read (even after seeing the movie). I second the motion for Me Talk Pretty One Day. In a similar vein, I picked up a memoir called Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. It isn't Sederis-level amusing (a comparison to Sederis is what prompted the purchase), but it is kind of interesting and disturbing. Of course I am partial to reading about people with screwed up home-lives because it makes me feel normal...

You know that I love all of you like brothers and sisters, and that I wish the best for Annika and Swedish women everywhere, but I have to say that I can barely keep my eyes open during a conversation about golf, or golf on the TV, so the on-line updates about how Annika is golfing just aren't doing it for me.

Those of you who are posting solely to keep me entertained should bear this in mind. Everyone else, as you were.
