As watches are so important, and as I'm in the market for a new one...

Can anyone suggest a day-date watch that doesn't look like something worn by a Bennigan's manager?

Try to keep it under $500. I know Rolex makes a day-date watch, but I need to pay off my loans. I've been looking on-and-off for over a year, so I remember the discussion on the Stalin Board, but none of the candidates were day-date watches.

And I'm not talking about chronographs with 15 different dials and displays. I don't need to know where North is or how far under water I am.

Advice appreciated.

(And yes, my shoes are above-average in quality.)

I think she looks Not Great in both pics. Her ideal weight is obviously somewhere in between the two extremes. How much weight has she gained for the part this time? I still have trouble picturing her with the White Stripes dude. I never thought of her as a Heather Locklear type.

It may be a typo from Gawker -- the place where the pictures originally came from gave the skinny Rene picture a date of May 2002. Or it may be that the Krispy Kreme diet works. I dunno -- at any rate, she looks better now.

That is more believable. I can see someone gaining that much weight in a year and a half. But to gain it in 6 months is just not believable.

I think she looks too heavy in the recent pic, but too skinny in the earlier pic. She needs to be somewhere inbetween. Her arms are too fat in the recent picture and too skinny in the earlier picture.

The funny thing is that I am so out of it from a pop culture standpoint, I don't know who that is. I prefer it that way.

I disagree -- she looks horrible in the Skinny Renee pic, and good in the Bridget Jones Sequel pic. Sure, maybe her ideal weight is somewhere in the middle, but she's a heckuva lot closer to it now. Maybe we can agree that she was at that ideal in Jerry McGuire.

Apropos of nothing, Heather Locklear is one of those people who looks better as she ages. I never found her attractive in her Dynasty or TJ Hooker days, but she is now a hottie. And if she's had work done, it doesn't look too obvious.

She has had her eyes done, which needed it. She has probably had a few fillers, too, which tend to look very natural unless they are overdone a la Meg Ryan.

And I agree that she looks better as she has aged. Her jaw line was too angular when she was younger and the mid-face sagging has helped to kind of square her jaw off a bit. It is a softer look.
