I think that Muddy Buddy will be my entry into adventure racing next year.
Thanks.

Everyone does all of the legs. The only time teammates are doing separate things are for the "Triad", in which 1 person roller blades, one person scoots (on a scooter) and the other runs to certain checkpoints (total distance is approx. 10 miles). Since I was the runner of the group, I ran about 7 of those miles (you can switch off from scooting to running and vice-versa).

We had a co-ed team. Our female teammate was a badass. I think I complained more about the rain during cycling than she did.

It would have been much more fun had it not been storming all day. Cycling in the rain sucks. My teammate's heart monitor (teams of 3) estimated that he burned 8500 calories.
I just looked at the website. I totally want to do that next year.

Maybe you could get one of these to do your job:

Except for the fact that water isn't a hard surface, that isn't a bad analogy.

Given his alleged weight loss, Wonk probably has a good dress or two to spare.

I was just looking at the top times, and it's awesome that top three coed teams did better than the top three male teams. Those teams must be amazing.

I can't imagine doing any of those legs, much less all of them. I would have collapsed by the 50th floor of the Sears Tower if I'd just been doing that alone. I'm really impressed.

2. San Francisco has one called The Oyster. It's coming up in October, which is too soon for me.... but I want to do this next year.

Am I the only one who doesn't want to do this?

I just want to be in shape enough that I could try it.

ETA: Baby steps, though. First a 5k this weekend, then the half marathon in January. Maybe the MS150 in April.

I don't want to scooter, or skate. plus climbing that many stairs would be really hard, and hard on my knees. Plus the stairwell would be jammed with sweaty smelly people.

oh and.........

The stairwell was like a sauna. No one was actually running up the stairs (maybe the two sponsored teams).
