1. General social acceptance has largely occured. The govt does not reflect the social mores of the nation - it reflects the soicla mores of the loudest group.

2. Fixing racism took forever, and its a long way from over. I don't think gay rights are emerging any slower.

3. I agree that we won't see an amendment.

4. Never underestimate the stupidity and anger of the fundamentalist sort. A man fool enough to operate on unthinking dogma is not capable of rationalization. There's no limit to his madness. He is not your fellow man, so don't feel down about his lack of common sense - consider him the enemy.

5. Frist and his kind have many healthy years before them. You'll be too old and arthritic to dance on his grave.

Don't worry. These bastards will be voted into the floorboards soon enough. I predict that Bush II will be a second term lame duck like Reagan.

I have a friend in Bellevue that has one of these. Had it for a couple of years. He bought an air conditioner this year because he says it "didn't do shit." If you have a small room and are sitting right next to it, then it'll cool you down a few degrees - otherwise - minimal difference.

Standing in front of the fridge - quicker, more fun - keeps your beer cold while you're drinking it.

No, my windows are too huge. Nearly floor to ceiling. There's no AC that would fit in it, I'd imagine. Plus, I dunno if we're allowed to install them.

I'm not in a particularly humid part of the country--Portland is no DC or NY in the summer. Seattle isn't humid during the summer either.

Ture enough. It is undoubtedly just in hindsight that it seems to have rolled through rather more forcefully, and accrued champions rather more quickly. It seems longer when you are observing it in real time.
Don't count on it. First off, he's male, and therefore genetically inferior and likely to die younger. Second, I can't dance now, so being arthritic is unlikely to greatly decrease my abilities. Third, how old do you think I am?

The JDL is not the same thing as the ADL. It advocates targeting Arab-Americans for violent acts --- basically exporting the Israeli/Palestinian conflict to Jews and Arabs in the U.S.

Sounds like a hate group to me. The ADL has denounced it, too.

The JDL is a political and paramilitary organization that advocates the use of violence and terror to silence those it labels as anti-semitic. I'll let you decide if that qualifies them as a hate group.

Get a fan -- I recommend Vornado. I am not keen on A/C and thus barely run it even though it tends to get a little sticky down here in the "Old South." I use fans and I personally believe that they keep you cooler than A/C (unless you use your A/C in such a manner as to make a refrigerator obsolete). In any event, you can take your mind off of how hot you are by talking into the fan and listening to your voice change. :D

What amazes me (besides how they get those little pictures into my TV, of course), is how these gnats overlook how much their extra-marital trysts, abusive nature to their spouse and kids (verbal counts too), and often too little time spent raising their children "destroys" the family. I work with a great lesbian (are there any other kind?) and she and her partner are trying to have a child and will make great parents -- I bet that their children (fingers crossed for luck) will turn out better than most of the wastoid dysfunctional by-products of "normal" families.

That's because there are no "accidental" pregnancies involving lesbian couples (inside the relationship I mean). Each pregnancy/adoption is well thought out and planned.

Most of the idiot parents either had children to "save the marriage" or got pregnant "by accident" and find out they hate each other outside of the bedroom much too late. It's what keeps Springer in business.

Dr. Rina Agrawal, a fertility expert at the London Women’s Clinic and The Hallam Medical Center in Britain, said an ovarian problem caused by an imbalance of sex hormones is more than twice as common in lesbians as in heterosexual women.
“A STARTLING number of lesbian women have polycystic ovarian syndrome,” Agrawal told a fertility conference.
“The prevalence of PCOS is two and a half times, almost three times, as high in lesbian women compared to heterosexual women.”
PCOS is the most common cause of ovarian dysfunction in women. It is characterized by abnormal follicles, cells in which the eggs mature in the ovaries, irregular periods, acne, obesity, a hormone imbalance and an increase in body and facial hair.
