Edited after reading EOs post that hubby and I come from totally different family backgrounds (he a single parent and me the typical working dad and SAHM; he is eldest and I am youngest), economic (his poor versus my middle-class), and parts of the country (plains versus NY). Our opinions differ on so many things. |

Despite our external differences, the OM is probably the most like me of any man I have dated: virtually the same age, virtually the same socio-economic background, similar childhoods, similar family structures, similar interests (though our tastes are different). We have different personalities and we have made very different choices with our lives before meeting, but we are really quite similar. |

Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins, the king of all bad accents
Christopher Lambert in Highlander Sean Connery in Highlander (yes, I know, he didn't bother doing an accent, but no way a sort-of-Egyptian-sort-of-Spanish guy should sound like an Edinburgh street tough) Everyone in Highlander, let's just cover our bases. Everyone in Titanic, too. Everyone in Lethal Weapon II Everyone in Captain Corelli's Mandolin Everyone in Queen of the Damned (so ... ALL vampires, from where ever and when ever, sound like Bela Legosi?) Brad Pitt in the Devil's Own. Nicholas Cage, Con Air (but, so funny I'm not sure I care) John Wayne in the Conqueror (if you haven't seen that, rent it 'cause it is BRILLIANTLY bad, Wayne plays Ghengis Khan, which should tell you everything you need to know) John Voight in Anaconda (but he was having so much fun that, again, I don't care) Pacino in Carlito's Way. Meryl Streep in Dingos Ate My Baby Mel Gibson in Braveheart (and everyone else, too, yes) DiCaprio in Gangs of New York Rosanna Arquette in the Whole 9 Yards Gary Oldman in a lot, but particularly 5th Element, and, per a Romania friend, in Dracula, too |

"From the public's perspective, our results suggest that individuals seeking stable long-term relationships should not seek the highest quality partner available, but should simply look for partners who are similar to themselves," they said" You see, egomaniacs like me assume that by seeking the highest quality partner available, we are looking for a partner that is similar to ourselves, so we find quotes like this hard to understand. |

It's not a stretch for Yul Brynner to be Genghis Khan as I think he was part Mongolian but John Wayne? What on earth was Hollywood thinking? btw Bad: loved the list |

one was with someone completely opposite from me: she just drove me absolutely crazy. She was (and still is) nuts. one was very similar to me: we usually agreed on everything, which meant that when we disagreed we had no idea how to handle it. All arguments were nuclear holocausts (as opposed to being at least a little bit constructive). current SO is somewhere in between. Just right. Of course if we ever split up I'll be sure to fit her into one of the two above categories. edited to correct spelling and re: line |

Drew Barrymore, Ever After. Chris O'Donnell, Circle of Friends. But at least James Lipton never spooged himself over how "spot on" their accents were, as he did for Gwynnie. |
