No, and I'm not sure why it should unless they make cork tampons. Or does butter (Cork's historically most famous product) have something to do with menstruation? (One of Penske's socks is now on the clock).

Rather, it was your (admittedly only through a stretch of my own) ambiguous use of the word.

I am not sure I understand your use of "mutually exclusive friendships" Are you saying that you don't think people should be friends with individuals A and B, if A and B are at odds, i.e. each person should take absolute sides?

Or the opposite, i.e. it is possible to compartmentalise friendships.

I assume we are talking about Slave and Paigow. If that's true I am comfortable with my relationships with both Slave and Paigow and the intersection of the same, and any feelings that either have about those relationships and/or antics, if any, are for those people to share with me. Not to be a jerk, seriously, but given the open animus between you and Paigow and the history of my relationship with Slave I find it hard to believe that you are standing up for either of them or that they would want or need you to.

Even when you post "TOS violation" as a joke it's a rehashing of something that wasn't particularly pleasant for the participants or entertaining for the onlookers.

Cork is a slang term for Tampax, or at least among my high school friends. So I found your signoff amusing, and thought perhaps the effect was intentional.

You can't use "eh" like that. It's got to be used in a crisp, short statement, like "So you're a fucking sock, eh?" There's also no "..." before it. It's supposed to follow in a nearly seamless fashion, with barely the hint of a pause.

You didn't really have to take it to that one.

Speaking of which, I saw a recent photo of Prince Harry today. He really looks less like his parents than ever before (meaning his mother and his purported father). The picture brought to mind a pp [sniff] post of a few years ago, something along the lines of "he is the image of the riding instructor who sired him," but much sharper. I can't remember the exact words.

Oh, but I did.

It is my understanding from trashy Regency-period romances that the honorable thing is to make sure that the heir and the spare are both fathered by the husband, but that the paternity of any children born thereafter is up for grabs.

Speaking of Ireland, I have not yet been but am planning a visit in June. The men will be playing a lot of golf so the women will have lots of time to do more interesting things (and by more interesting, I don't mean shopping). I'm only just starting to plan, so if anyone has any recommendations, please PM. (Kid-friendly recs are welcome but not my main focus, as we will have at least one very eager sitter. )

You don't seriously consider picking on someone for what she posts "shit stirring," do you? That's just picking. And it may be as tiresome as all the other tiresome stuff we do here, but it's part of the deal and although ppnyc may feel differently, if she is in fact real, it's not all that mean by our standards.

Sure its a form of shit stirring. Every picking response is in part an invitation to the others in the inner circle of cool to pick at her, which will predictably result in her responses to the picking, which results in more picking by a certain group. Shitty and not amusing. And to what result? At what point do you think you have an affect on her? And what affect ideally would you like to have on her? That she was shunned by the population of the LT chatboard?

Further, continually to invoke the "is she real or a penskesock" is shit stirring. It's clear my socking is not cool, but invoking the subject continually related to me is sure to perpetuate the topic. I am sure you are privy to the same sources of information that I am and can easily confirm that ppnyc is a distinct poster on the board (IP addresses confirm that). Why not do that and move on and I will agree to move on from slave-paigow [sniff] shitstirring and we can live in perfect harmony from here on.

I don't think any of my comments were anything I never communicated to her and/or were duplicitous,

2. Sometimes I pick on nfh and sometimes I am supportive. Much like with ppnyc I don't necessarily understand what the feeding frenzy on her is. Her posts can be insipid, but everyone posts crap sometimes and her links don't particularly bother me. I did lie when I said I have met her, which lie I think was obvious, but again, it was in part because I think the continued serious shit she got from people was just that. Shit. I have corresponded with her offline and my understanding was that she was a she, and so I didn't have a problem endorsing that. Maybe I naive, but I have since heard from a third party I trust, whom apparently met her, that she is a she,

3. About ppnyc, what she said below. I have never engaged in any games with her on the board. All of you have claimed she is my sock for years. I have told many people offline that this is not true. If you don't like her, don't read her.

I was a poor college student the only time I have been there, so unfortunately I don't have a lot of suggestions. At the time, our activities centered around walking around the towns, visiting as many Guinness-selling establishments as possible, and ridiculously long public bus rides between cities.

That said, I think the main activity (that doesn't involve a pint glass) is enjoying the natural beauty of the countryside. Just driving around the Connemara (a pennisula near Galway), for example, can be quite nice.

Too fucking bad. Due almost entirely to your socking, everybody has doubts about whether new posters are live or Memorex and nobody wants to look like the joke is on them by responding earnestly. For you to complain about an effect that you have created is totally ridiculous.

As for ppnyc in particular, surely you don't have to have it pointed out to you why people have continually thought that she must be a sock.

Move on from what? If ppnyc posts something stupid or point-missing, I will respond if I want to, notwithstanding your "issues," the plaintive messages entitled only "Why?" that I have received via PM, or the fact that I really should be checking out cooking classes in Ireland online.

The intended effect is to have her post something of value or something anyone (besides you, but you can always get that by email and pm, as you have over the years) would want to read.

I will anticipate your response: "But she is her own person. Why should she conform to the ideals of those in the inner circle of cool? Blah, blah, blah."

No one is asking her to conform. Everyone (and you seem to be the absolute only one who hasn't) has asked her to put some substance in her posts.
