Fuckers.

The fucker in question got 500 emails from angry women, and withdrew the bill. This internet thing sure is something, huh?

Don't assume it was emails that did it. http://www.petpics.net/dp/files/1-205.jpg

I miss my kitty avatar. And I did not send that man a bunch of thoroughly used tampons, though that seems like a good idea. Perhaps with a note stating that he should have them checked to see if any of them have miscarriage material on them.

Your half-used ones seemed to work fine.

Um, total whiff on RT's original post.

It wasn't a whiff. It was an homage.

Great article. This part mystified me:
  • Cosgrove said his bill was intended to add more teeth to laws penalizing women who abandon full-term infants after birth.

It reads: “When a fetal death occurs without medical attendance, it shall be the woman’s responsibility to report the death to the law-enforcement agency in the jurisdiction of which the delivery occurs within 12 hours after the delivery.”

GWB to Washingtonians: Drop Dead

Calls by some liberal weenies to low-key the inauguration in a time of war (a la FDR's) have been studiously ignored by this Administration, with the usual theme of response that the inauguration is fully funded by private dollars.

Well, sure. Except for DC's expenses, which is being told to pay the $12M in costs it will incur for the inauguration by raiding the kitty earmarked for Homeland Security projects.
  • D.C. officials said yesterday that the Bush administration is refusing to reimburse the District for most of the costs associated with next week's inauguration, breaking with precedent and forcing the city to divert $11.9 million from homeland security projects.

Congratulations, Washingtonians! You'll be at a higher risk of terrorist attack because of the funds you'll need to spend on the inauguration festivities. On the plus side, the parties will be nice.

Saudi Arabia today is a militant islamic state internally but has come to terms with the idea that it cannot be imperialistic in its aims. So, in terms of how it treats it's citizens, I'm going to be hardpressed to find substantive differences of degree between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
I think SA is in most ways signficantly worse to its citizens, actually. But the Iranian form of islamic rule is actually based on serious islamic scholarship, whereas Wahibbism is basically a cult based on backwards, ossified tribal superstitions with an islamic overlay. (That's not necessarily relevant, but I think the fact that the Iranian mullahs actually do seriously think about stuff like what the Koran actually says & means results in rather more enlightened policies. Not that Iran will be challenging Hong Kong (or even Dubai) for Personal Freedom Capital of the Year or anything.)

I can leave now. I will always remain as a reference people use to make a point- like Candyman.
