There are few manufacturers of automobiles that I would seriously consider taking off road. Rover and Jeep and maybe, maybe Toyota.

That said, you are right in that the suburbanite knuckleheads don't know what the fuck they have. Back when the Range Rover was (re-?)introduced in the US in the late 80s, early 90s a friend of ours brought hers to our ranch. She was afraid to drive it over a muddy patch of the pasture for fear that it might get stuck. No amount of proof could convince her that she had the best possible vehicle for getting through. I still think she just didn't want to get mud on her expensive car.

And the Discovery was a disaster of epic proportions. Not quite Aztec, but pretty fucking bad.
The Rover in that picture is not a RR or a Discover or an LRIII. It's a badass old school real Rover.

My earlier comment was - shockingly - waay too braod and hyperbolic. I'd love to have a Defender. Those are fucking sweet trucks.

But I'd put my LC up against a fucking Soccer Mom RR or LRIII any day.

I've had a lot of trucks because I'm a hick by birth. The best one for off roading was a 1982 full size Chevy Blazer with those old locking hubs. I had oversized tires on it and it even had a cb. That was a fun fucking ride.

We (comfortably) fit three people and three dogs in it, and if you have a friend or family member who has an SUV for those every now and then trips to Home Depot or Ikea, it's pretty awesome.
I like Minis, but we probably want something more practical.

Taste in cars is so subjective

I personally like some German cars and Japanese ones. Don't see any appeal in a Saab, but that's just me. For the price, the 07 g35 sedan should merit a test drive--lots of hp (get the manual), non-objectionable styling, passable interior, great engine and handling, fun to drive, will probably be pretty bulletproof.

The SL's overpriced for what you get. They handle swell and alll, but its really kind of a lumbering, smooth riding muscle car. If you want that, get an LS460, which beats the piss out of Benz and BMW for smoothness and comfort. The SL's a status symbol car, but I never found them to be too much fun to drive.

Forbes has a "rebuttal" to the Don't Marry RT article

ETA: and the slideshow is now missing. Though gawker has some cliffnotes that went along with the slideshow, and text of the slideshow has been preserved by some blogger. Oh, and the author of the original piece's wiki entry has been updated.

I think the G35 (at least the ones that I have seen) are really great looking. Although the 2 door model is way sexier.

Looking at your posts is like watching a police car chase on "The Worlds Most Amazing Videos". You just know the outcome is going to be bad but you just can't look away. You have also made the FB board infinitely more interesting, just like a gruesome car accident can make you look at a side of the road on your commute you have never noticed before.

I realize you asked for this, and told TM to give you an honest assessment, but I am a strong believer that when a female asks you if she is fat or unattractive you never tell them the truth. No exceptions. It is similar to the situation if you are hiding Jews in your attic, and the Nazis ask you if you are hiding Jews, you always, always lie.

But having said that, I am going back to the politics board; I just can't watch you humiliate yourself anymore. It is too painful. You really need to reread Bold and Brazen's post concerning this issue like six or seven times. It is spot on. And then get some therapy. Seriously. I am not kidding. The fact that you need acceptance and affirmations from completely anonymous posters on the internet is just not a good sign. I am almost sure you won't listen to me and will lash out at me for this post, but I had to give it a shot.
Congrats. The Jews in the Attic thing had to be the strangest reference I've seen in a while.

I kind of like you new avatar, so if the point was to be more annoying, you missed the mark with me. Maybe it would get old at some point, but still an improvement over the Our Gang one. You even seem a bit less annoying with it, but maybe that is only in comparison to some present FB company.
