Here's an actual fashion question:

Since time immemorial, or at least for the last several years, I have worn Abboud suits and Nordstrom shirts. I've been thinking about trying some different shirts -- Brooks Bros.? Tyrwhitt? Pink? I'm open to suggestions here -- but want to make sure the cut of the shirt doesn't look odd with the cut of the Abboud suits. Thoughts?

Okay. My answer since I blather "on and on" about this is going to sound canned. I love Thomas Pink shirts. I like the cut, I like the fit. I like Charles Tyrwhitt but not as much. Equal quality in material. Be cautious about the cut in either. Pink is in the midst of their annual sale. try them out. tyrwhitt runs internet 3 for 2 specials.

Hugo Boss would fit well with an Abboud Cut.

I like Brooks but they are more "classic" and might not fit well with the suits...more boxy...

Brooks Bros are still very full cut though I think the quality has declined. I think the Nordstrom shirts probably hold their shape better.

Tyrwhitt shirts are similarly cut, they come in a million nice patterns and I think have sturdier collars than Brooks or Nordstrom. They shrink a little but I haven't had mine for that long to comment on longevity. But when I wear these, I always get compliments.

Pink is a pretty slim fit cut. The collars never seem to fit me right -- they are either too big or too small.

However, unless you are unhappy with what you have, I would go with the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" mantra.

My boss tells me I should do that. either personal shopper, stylist for corporate types or some type of image consultant. I have that rainman like ability to identify brands with a 95% accuracy rate at 30 paces away. It's actually sort of creepy, something I cannot turn off. "oh, that's Hermes; oh that's cole-haan" it is awful actually.
