You seem to think I'm making some argument about what we knew back in the day. On that point, we're going to have to wait a few years for the memoirs to be published and the records to be released and the histories to be written. Suffice it for now to say that I think the best thinking of the government was somewhat more nuanced than the public statements of top administration officials in the run-up to the war.

Of course. So what you are implying, that you knew more or know more than the military and intelligence?

I've stated that Ricks' sources are in the military and intelligence community, and I'm implying -- oops, now I'm stating -- that he is better informed than you.

You could say, but you would be assuming facts not in evidence. The straw that broke the camels back could have been Bush resolve. . . . My point is we don't know.

It could also have been that he was scared by Penske's mad photoshopping skillz. David Kay does know a thing or two. So does David Ricks. You don't know, but only because your efforts to learn something have been limited, apparently, to a single Google search in the course of this conversation.
For someone who complains about the sort of sources I link to, all you do is talk out of your ass.
