NCAA Basketball Pool 2013

Time again for the LawTalkers NCAA basketball pool.

So, to join in the fun, I have once again created a private group at ESPN.com-->Fantasy Games-->Tournament Challenge for our little clique.

After you've created an entry*, search for the group

Lawtalkers

It's a private group. You need the following password to join:

YSBDetails

One entry each (i.e., per primary sock).**

The brackets are posted on the Sunday before the tournament. I think the entries are locked on Thursday morning before the first (real***) game. You can get the details at the ESPN site.

* Note that to maintain anonymity you should use/create an account that does not bear your real name. If you care, of course. The name on your account will appear in the standings (as does your "entry" name).

** That's one entry per "real" person, not one for each of your many socks.

*** It appears that ESPN rejects the play-in games as unnatural abominations and has excluded those from its bracket challenge.

Let's take a moment to congratulate again our past winners:

2012: Adder
2011: Notcasesensitive
2010: Mr. Man
2009: Dressed to bill
2008: Mr. Man
2007: Mmmm, Burger (C.J.)
2006: Shape Shifter
2005: Alex de Large
2004: Evenodds/Greedy, Greedy, Greedy

If anyone knows the username I used, please feel free to share it (it's that once a year time when I try to remember how to log into espn).

Once again, I look forward to being schooled by all the supremely knowledgeable BB mavens here who have never won a tournament.

Black Adder? Must have had something with Adder for anyone to know who you were.

Nate Silver tells us all everything we really need to know.

I just wanted to point out that for one (very) brief and shining moment I am on top of our group leaderboard.

I have to enjoy it now while I can because soon my Big 10 (and foolhardy Minnesota) bias will start me on a bottomward course.

That's all.

ETA: And now starts the fall.

I guess I have bragging rights for the next few days? woo hoo.

Looks like this one is done. Congrats Lester. The only points remaining to be had are from Louisville wins, so no one can overtake Lester.*

*Even me, with my Burger 2 bracket that I filled out instead of the one I added to the group, and which has 610 points with Louisville winning. Note to self: don't fill out brackets on an iPad without paying careful attention.

Congrats wherever you are.

Burger, your lawtalkers entry still did better than TM.

Re: NCAA Basketball Pool 2013

I don't follow college basketball so I pretty much just guess at the bracket, but my friend Tracy had success this year with a technique even beyond guessing.

She held a tea bag over the bracket and picked the teams that the drops of tea fell on. She's in second place in her work pool (and was leading for much of the tournament). That's how freaky this year was.

Clearly the tea was divinely inspired.

Nah, she's one of my non-believing friends.
