Oddly, I seriously think most people would disagree.
Apropos of nothing, many years ago, when I was in college, some woman I knew complimented some shoes I was wearing. I was happy to receive a compliment, particuarly since I was unsure as to my feelings on the shoes. It dawned on me like a week later that she did not dress at all to my taste, and that her compliment should be taken as a sign that they were not for me.
