I don't know -- if my husband were fat, I don't think I would love him less; maybe I'd find him less attractive, but it's hurtful to hear that your spouse is "tired" of you because of the way you look. Sad, really.

I have to imagine that this was the culmination of some joking and banter between husband and wife and that she wasn't really offended by it. Because that's the only way I can interpret her husband's continued ability to breathe.
In fairness, though, he didn't actually say he was tired of her, but that he was tired of having a fat wife -- presumably meaning that, if she weren't fat, he'd be happy to have her as a wife.
