The debt has two causes, both Democratic party faults:
1 you guys are out of touch with much of the country, so we control both houses and the White House. That is a bad combination. Rather than put some thought into why this is so, you appear headed for a big ass wall. This will get worse.
2 you spent the 90's ignoring a serious threat to the US that exploded in 2001. This has cost money. This should get better.
you are right that the page doesn't add to the cost, but it does serve to reinforce that people shouldn't trust you to behave differently should you ever again be trusted with any relavence. Again, it is in the country's best interest for you to take control of at least one house, but alas, it does seem likely.
