I share the love and would love to know what happened on the episode that ran against the Oscars last week. I saw a weird dinner party but thats it.

Actually, that was one of my favorite episodes so far. It ended with a truly happy (!) moment between Claire and her mother.
The weird dinner party was a birthday party that Lisa threw for Ruth. I love the portrayal of the relationship between Keith and David, with all its warts and little triumphs. It seems like they're both trying to make it work, and it seems a little less one-sided than it has in the past.
The dead person on that episode was a gay man who had been with his partner for 22 years. The partner gave a eulogy that included a line that was really touching -- something like, "it wasn't always easy, and it wasn't always fun, but it was always worth it." (It sounds much more trite when taken out of context.)
It's amazing to me how a show about funeral directors can so consistently avoid being overly maudlin and depressing. (Not that it's not without it's depressing moments.) Overall, I think it's a fantastic show.
