When I lived in a part of the country with more Wal-Marts, I occasionally shopped there out of necessity. Wal-Mart's store designs suck, and their aisles were not well-kept. Boxes of merchandise were opened and re-taped, etc. I avoided going there for that reason, not for political ones.
The walmarts that I have been to in NoCal are filled with people who look to me like they are low wage earners. I generally avoid Walmarts because I don't like being around the lower class people who shop there. But I recognize that these people need to shop at Walmart in order to be able to feed their 5 or more children.

At least here on the peninsula, the Walmart is not filled with techies with stock options trying to save a buck. It is filled with people who have to shop there to be able to make ends meet.

I wouldn't go near a walmart again after I once went to the Walmart in the east bay (I over there for another reason). I guarantee you I was the only person there who made more than $15k a year.
